Father and Son

Hi Pastor John,
I was reading Gospel tract, “The Father and Son”.  I have a question regarding to this.

“All else was created by the Son: the heavens, the earth, humans and heavenly beings, animals and plants – everything, everywhere – was created by the Son. When, in Genesis 1:26, the Father said, “Let us make man in our image,” the “us” in that verse was the Father speaking to His Son, who then created man according to the will of his Father. By his Father’s power and wisdom, the Son created everything – except himself.”

Did Jesus created everything except himself? What I understood that God was the creator but the Son was not co-creator. I believe that Jesus is the firstborn of all creation. Kindly help me to understand the excerpt in this tracts?

Thank you,

Leika

Hi, Leika.

The son credited the Father with creating all things because all things were created by the Father’s will, wisdom, and power.  “Of myself,” Jesus said, “I can do nothing.”

However, with his Father’s wisdom and power, and according to his Father’s will, Jesus can do anything.  And the central revelation of this New Testament is that (1) the Son of God was with the Father from the beginning and (2) the Son was the Father’s agent in creating all things.

Colossians 1:16-17 KJV

[16] For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

John 1:1-3 KJV

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

So, the Son created all things except, of course, himself.  He created all things at the Father’s command, and he gives all glory and credit for creation to the Father.  At the same time, the Father points us to His Son, whom He has made the head of all things.  And He demands that we bow before His Son.  Otherwise, we will spend eternity in the horrible place of torment called the Lake of Fire.

I hope this makes clearer what you have read in our gospel tract on the Father and the Son.

Thank you for the question.

Pastor John,

It is clearer now.  Now, when someone will ask me about the Father and the Son when I give them the tracts, I can give clear answer to them.

He kept all hidden for “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,”  but “He has revealed it to babes.”  Paul said, “to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, even of the Father and Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” and the Book of Psalms shows that “IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SON!”

Thank you,

Leika

The Son is everything to the Father and to us.  He is the Mediator between God and man.

I believe in that, Pastor John.  The Father sent His Son so that the Holy Spirit (His divine nature) will be available to us.  I believe that the disciple and prophets were ignorant before the Father sent His Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Indeed!  “The Father so love the world that He gave His only beloved Son.”

Thank you,

Leika

Hi Leika.

Jesus has given you a good understanding.

The Old Covenant which are the laws, were written in the stone (Old Testament). The new Covenant which the laws are written in our hearts (New Testament).

“The holy Spirit also bears witness to us, for after having said, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and on their minds will I write them” (Hebrews 10:16), and “This is an everlasting covenant”, as what said in Jeremiah 32:40-41:

“And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them and cease to do them good, and I will put my fear in their heart so that they do not turn away from me. And I will rejoice over them, to do them good, and in faithfulness will I plant them in this land with all my heart and with all my soul.”

This is the new thing in the book of Isaiah: “Behold, I will do a new thing! It is about to spring up! Will you not understand it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

I love studying the Scripture, Jesus gives understanding indeed!

Thank you,

Leika
