This week’s memory verse for David’s class is this:
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;”
Philippians 2:5-6 NIV
We know that Jesus is not equal to God, so what is this verse saying? Am I misreading it? I read it that it was saying that he did not consider using it to his advantage.

That’s the Trinitarian perversion of that scripture from Philippians. The correct translation is below (Phip. 2):
5. Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus,
6. who, although existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be grasped after.
