Pastor John.
When Jesus was crucified, what did the tearing of the veil in the temple mean?
Thanks Jacob F.

Hi Jacob.
Good to hear from you.
The tearing of the veil represented the fact that a different priesthood was about to be instituted by God, a priesthood “after the order of Melchizedek” and ordained by the power of an endless life instead of on the basis of being a descendant of Aaron. This new High Priest, Jesus of Nazareth, was about to enter into the Most Holy Place in heaven to offer himself for our sins, by which act, the Old Testament figure would lose all its glory.
