Today’s Old Meeting CD

Amy,

If you remember, during the CD today, there was no time in either of those two 30-minute interviews with Preacher Clark that anyone shouted, spoke in tongues, or even said “praise God”. Instead, there was a calm, loving authority in the man, and authority that makes the humble in heart WANT TO BOW. The simple truth of God carried the power that we felt.

During a very loud and excited Pentecostal meeting in Louisville more than 40 years ago now, I heard a young man say, “The anointing is really here tonight!” Everyone there, it seemed, agreed and said “Amen!” Later than night, on the way home from the meeting, my father brought up that young man’s comment and said, “They just don’t know what the anointing is. You can’t shout under the real anointing of God. The real anointing makes you quiet. It calms you down.”

I was just a sinner at the time, but I have never forgotten what he said. What we felt today was the anointing that Preacher Clark was talking about. His confident, loving authority cannot be imitated. It was altogether in the Spirit. The world knows nothing about it, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

Pastor John

I concur with you and Gary! Hearing the cd this morning did something wonderful. I feel my whole being has been drenched with pure truth and love of God. When the cd was over and the Spirit fell on us all, my body was weak from the feelings of authority and truth. I love those feelings. What else is there?

I really can’t say it the way I feel it, but it’s still there! Praise the Lord!

John,

To me, the thing which always comes to mind with your father is he was immovable from the spirit. No matter what he was discussing those opposing him or those for him he was the same.

His tone and steadfastness is astounding.

EZEK 3:9

Yes, Wendell, Ezekiel 3:9 is an accurate description of his spirit. The amazing thing is that whenever God creates that degree of determination within a man, he then becomes gentle and kind. God’s kind of firmness is not cold; it is very warm-hearted toward people, as those who knew Preacher Clark can testify he was.

He often told us that if our friends can puff us up, or our enemies cast our spirits down, we are not yet “settled and established” in the Lord.
