Pastor John,
I want to thank Leann for taking the time to transcribe the Malachi study. I had a wonderful time reading it this morning. Here are my highlights from this mornings reading:
The strength that’s required to preach the gospel is greater than the strength required to heal the sick!
If you ever hear a man of God declaring the council of God under this New Testament, you’re witnessing a man doing something that man cannot do – if it’s the real gospel – because the flesh is afraid of it. The nature of man can’t bear it! If any men could have born it, it would have been Jesus’ disciples, who had already performed miracles themselves and been with him three years or more.
If there were any human beings that were going to be able to bear things from God without having the holy Ghost, they would have. They couldn’t.
Because this is a new covenant, it requires a new spirit inside you to bear it. It’s so foreign to the flesh. It’s so in opposition to the flesh. It’s so unsavory to your human nature that you have to be delivered from your nature to even want it! That’s this new covenant! That’s what the Son of God came to do. To give you a nature where he could tell you things that the flesh cannot receive!
The flesh opposes this covenant because life in this covenant is not of the flesh. It leaves man out of it!
My father used to say often, “Everything Jesus commanded his disciples to do, they couldn’t do”. You name it. What did he tell them to do? “Go heal the sick.” They couldn’t do it. He had to anoint them with power and send them out, saying in effect, “Carry this with you and you can do it.”
What’s the difference between Paul taking a handkerchief and sending it to heal somebody and Jesus using a human being and doing it? Anything carrying the anointing of God can do it!
Jesus could have anointed a rock and thrown it at somebody and healed him! That doesn’t make that rock alive! That rock can’t hear the hidden wisdom of God and live in the Spirit. But there’s even more to it than that. You haven’t thought about this yet.
It is as impossible to hear and receive and love the word of God in this New Testament as it is to preach it. You have to be made a different creature to hear it. To take it in. You have to be anointed to hear the word of God This isn’t human life we are experiencing here!
Thank God He made us “different creatures”, John, so we can take this in and hear it. I was encouraged and made thankful by reading this. I appreciate LeeAnn taking the time to transcribe it!
Gary
