Just so you know . . .
It’s not worthless information.
Can you see why none of these “all’s” mean “all”?

As I read over the verses on “all” that you sent me, I understood that the “all” in those verses doesn’t mean “all” everywhere. But what about this verse you listed? Why doesn’t it mean “all”?
Romans 3
[23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the good question!
The “all” in that verse almost means “all”, but there are some exceptions: the Father and His Son, and the angels who were faithful to them. The Father and the Son and those angels did not sin; therefore, the WHOLE truth is that not “all” have sinned and come short of the glory of God, just some heavenly creatures (including Satan) and all of us humans who did not die very young.
Pastor John
PS And animals, of course. They didn’t sin, either.

Thank you for explaining that. I love how simple the truth is!

Hi John,
I can see why so many “all’s” in the Bible only mean all of something or someone – or all in a certain context – but not purely “all”. I noticed that Romans 8:28 is left out. That “all” doesn’t mean “all” either does it?
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Hi Vince.
I think that “all” really does mean “all”. What Paul says in Romans 8:28 applies to every single creature anywhere in heaven or earth who loves God and is among those whom He has called. Everything that happens anywhere in creation, Vince, is only a part of God’s plan for the eventual and eternal good of those who love God and are the called according to His purpose.” They don t even have to know about the event; all things everywhere are still working together for their good!
Have faith in God.

It really takes the Spirit to know what kind of “all” God is talking about! 🙂

Hey Brother John,
Yes, I see what you mean. I think I realized some of them didn’t mean all, but I honestly don’t think I gave it that much thought. I find it very interesting to study things such as this. I think it helps keep us grounded and re-emphasize what you have taught us about God not being as picky as we are about some things. Thank you for sending it out.
