What Am I To Do?

I am a believer.  I sought the Baptism of the Holy Ghost for years.  Never felt anything and became discouraged.  I believe that maybe I am doomed for the things that I have done in wartime. I have begged for forgiveness but it feels like my prayers never ascend beyond the ceiling.  I feel hopeless.  What else must I do?

Hi J–.

First of all, nothing you did in the past, in war or not, can put a stain on your soul that the blood of Christ cannot cleanse. None of us, as sinners, had that much power, for sure.
Secondly, “God is not willing that any should perish”, and He invites “whosoever will” to come drink of His Spirit.

I do not know why different people have such different experiences seeking the holy Ghost. The precious souls here among us have very different testimonies as to receiving the baptism of the Spirit.  We know that God is right in all He does, but why He does anything the way He does it is impossible to know unless He reveals it.
Finally, if you attend meetings where people are not free in the Spirit, that will hinder your search for the holy Ghost.

You MUST receive Jesus’ baptism of the holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  That is the thing that washes sins away and makes you a member of the body of Christ (1Cor. 12:13).  Nobody will see the face of God without it because nobody is born again without it.  Make it the top priority if your life – because, in reality, it is!

Hi Pastor John!

I had to take a minute to write after reading “What am I to do”?

My heart just filled with compassion for this person.  I was thinking about all the wrong thoughts, feelings, and fears I had seeking the holy ghost.  I remember you telling me, “Even the fact you want the holy ghost is God.  Nothing in your flesh can want God.”  Oh, how much relief and joy that brought to me!  I pray that Jesus will help with the wrong ideas and the fears this person is feeling.
