I Believe

Hi Pastor John,

I’m reading in the GCC stories* tonight.  I read this poem your dad wrote.  I love it!  What a blessing it is to believe!

I Believe

by George C Clark

I believe in the old time power which fell at Pentecost.

You may call it the Holy Spirit, but to me it’s the Holy Ghost.

I believe they were converted who tarried there for him.

I believe in the old time power,

from the beginning to the end.

I believe that the spirit witnessed with cloven tongues of fire.

I believe that the people heard him who came from the lands afar.

I believe they were confounded, while others said amen.

I believe in the old time power,

from the beginning to the end.

I believe if you would enter the chosen bride of Christ,

You’ll have to have his Spirit and make the sacrifice,

I believe the Lord is saying, “Ye must be born again.”

I believe in the old time power,

from the beginning to the end.

I believe that old Cornelius received  the Holy Ghost.

I believe that the Spirit witnessed, just like at Pentecost.

I believe he was a Gentile, a Roman I contend.

I believe in the old time power,

from the beginning to the end.

I believe that Paul did enter, and passed the upper coast,

and came unto the Ephesians to give them the Holy Ghost.

I believe twelve men received it when Paul laid on his hand.

I believe in the old time power

from the beginning to the end.
