Hey!
I’m taking the Old Testament class with John David’s group and have a couple of questions from the homework this week. (Old Testament Course (Pt. 1) – Going to Jesus.com )
- In our maps, which Mahanaim is the correct/preferred location? Page 57 and 63 have it in two different spots.
============
Different map books will have that ancient site, and others as well, in different places, depending on the latest theories of archaeologists and historians. If you have it close to where the Bible says it was, you are doing OK.
============
- Genesis 49:10. It says the scepter shall not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes. What does this mean? (I’m remembering back to previous Old Testament class where we learned about Shiloh, and this seems out of order for it to be talking about what happened there.)
============
That prophecy had nothing to do with the ancient holy site of Shiloh. It is a prophecy of the Messiah. Some translate it as “…until he comes to whom it belongs.”
============
Also, Genesis 27:46 seems to have a typo. It says “…if Jacob takes a wife from that daughters…” Should this be “the daughters”?
============
Thank you. I have fixed that.
============
I’m enjoying reading your translation for this course instead of the King James version. (Going to Jesus.com – Bible Translations ) I like it! Seems clearer and has been a little easier to read so far.
Thank you!
Lyn
