  • Latest chapter 6 notes typed up

    I read the excerpts from Chapter 6 of your Father and Son book.

    Wow, wonderful thoughts of life!

    When you were telling about Eve, and comparing her experience with that of Jesus in the wilderness, it made me remember the very first desire I felt when I knew I needed the holy ghost because those people who had it had a power to overcome sin every day, a power I knew I did not have in my own!

    I LOVE these thoughts from Jesus that you wrote!

    ================

    Hey

    There sure are some things to chew on in Chapter 6. While reading these things, I had thoughts about two of the consistent lines of attack against Jesus while he was on the earth.
    The issue of him being the/a son of God, which was called blasphemy etc.
    The issue of keeping the Law and lawfulness in general.
    The second issue continued after Pentecost with the accusations brought against Steven and Paul and the trouble involved in Acts 15, Galatians and Asia in general. I can see Satan the lawyer being used and at work in this. Just wondering if there is a place to consider these things in the text of the book. If nothing else it opens up the consideration of what was going on while Jesus walked among men. And when you consider things like the Trinity doctrine and the whole issue of ceremonies, these lines of attack are still present to this day.

    I also looked up all occurrences of the exact phrase “the Son of God” in the KJV to see whether the article [“the”] appears in the Byzantine Greek text. Here are the places where the article appears with huios along with the speaker/writer. Don’t know if this shows anything. If Romans 1:4 is accepted as having the article, then every occurrence [of “Son of God”] after Pentecost has the article.

    Matt 26:63 high priest speaking
    Mark 3:11 unclean spirits speaking
    Luke 4:41 demons speaking
    22:70 the council of elders speaking
    John 1:34 John the Baptist speaking
    1:49 Nathanael speaking
    5:25; 9:35; 11:4 Jesus speaking
    11:27 Martha speaking
    20:31 John speaking

    Acts 8:37 (??? This verse is not in the Byzantine mss. The UBS Greek text also omits this verse, but in footnotes, some Greek versions cited for v37 do have the article.)
    9:20 Paul speaking

    Rom 1:4 Could be. Whole phrase in genitive – του ορισθεντος υιου θεου
    2Cor. 1:19 Paul (interposed words between article and huios)
    Gal 2:20 Paul
    Eph 4:13 Paul
    Heb 4:14; 6:6; 7:3; 10:29 author of Hebrews speaking

    1John 3:8; 4:15; 5:5,10,12,13,20 John
    Rev 2:18 Jesus

    Thanks, Damien.

    It is interesting that every time “Son of God” appears after Pentecost, “the” is attached. The Son really was revealed when the Spirit came, wasn’t he?

    “The issue of keeping the Law and lawfulness in general” was not that much of an issue while Jesus was still here on earth. But it certainly became a huge issue among God’s people in the years following God’s call to the Gentiles (Acts 10), and especially after God’s anointing of Paul with a gospel for them.

  • Chapter 6 / Sunday

    Hi, Pastor John:

    The reading Sunday really did something for me; it was very joyful. You were reading about Jesus and the temptation in the wilderness. Satan came to Jesus, not knowing who he was, but thought he was on another mission from God. But, unlike any prior mission, this man (Jesus) confronted Satan with the righteousness of God. It wasn’t that Jesus knew more scriptures than Satan, but Jesus confronted Satan with what God is, because it was inside him (Jesus). It just made me wonder what kinds of thoughts Satan must have had when this man spoke to him like he did. It just thrilled my soul. My heart said, “That’s how it’s done!” Praise God! It’s like, you know it, but the reading made it clearer. The truth takes the flesh out of overcoming anything; everything the flesh does is from it’s own will. Men don’t know how to overcome anything without God. Everything of the world is of the flesh, and that is Satan’s only weapon against us – our flesh. I love Romans 8:9: “But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you.” And, “If any man hath not the Spirit of Christ (God’s life) he is none of his.”

    This gave me more appreciation for what Jesus did for us, like Cliff’s testimony of Jesus’ crucifixion. I do hope we will read the rest of chapter 6 together. I felt such a great hope! It was so wonderful. The feelings from the reading are still here with me this morning. Amen!

    And the thoughts we have been having this morning are just breath-taking, Billy. Pray that we can get it all written down.

  • Father and Son book reading

    Pastor John,

    I loved the sweet feelings that flowed at the end of the reading Sunday. That is what reading and talking about Jesus does. Truly, there is something about that name. You could feel the Life when you were praying for our family, while Brother Gary was playing in the background. You could barely hear Gary, but the feelings of the song were “loud and clear”. It’s about Jesus and his Father.

    I felt such a deep appreciation for Bob, John David, and Stuart “livestreaming” for us who could not be there. I know our hearts were there, and the fellowship and love of the Spirit was there. It is not a small thing to witness and or feel the Spirit when it moves. We are blessed.

    Just about every book has some kind of intro or preface. I feel that this book about the Father and the Son is the preface of love for your upcoming book, The Iron Kingdom. It reminds me of how John the baptist was the “preface” to Jesus’ ministry to Israel. Then Jesus came and taught Israel, with words and with power, about the Kingdom of God. This book will introduce (again), the truth about Jesus and his Father to His children, and then open those feelings (to all who want it) to see the truth about the evil that has been done to Jesus by the Iron Kingdom of Christianity.

    I was glad to hear that you are going to have a hard cover for this book. It would be something to tie (in some way) the hard cover of the F and S book, to the cover of The Iron Kingdom book. To me, it just feels these two books would go hand-in hand.

  • “Pearls of Wisdom” – March 27, 2012

    Good morning John,

    I want to make sure I understand today’s Pearl. Jesus never made anybody get the holy ghost, but he did say “You must be born again”. Does the fact that the person, in this case, is asking if they have to have the holy ghost mean that they really don’t want it? And your father was pointing out to them that if they don’t want the holy ghost, then they don’t want eternal life? So in a roundabout way, he really was telling them that, yes, you do have to have the holy ghost (if you want to escape damnation and have eternal life)?

    ===============

    Hi Vince.

    This is a distinction that I have tried to get across many times, and it is an important one to make.

    To communicate faithfully what Jesus said to Nicodemus, we have to add in brackets what he and Nicodemus understood was the case: What Jesus was really saying is this: “(If you all want to live forever in peace with God, then ‘Ye must be born again.)’” He was not making a demand that they receive it; he was making them a loving offer.

    Part of what God considers to be truly fasting (Isa. 58) is that we “put away the yoke”; that is, we stop demanding that others do what we want them to do. Our will for people, even if ti is the best thing for them, becomes evil when we try to impose it on them. God does not do that, and neither do those who are like Him. When Jesus told Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again”, it was his attitude that made what he said good. He spoke from the heart of a servant, not of a master.

    My father’s point was that God gives people a choice. People do not have to repent and receive God’s Spirit. But it will help them make the right choice if they are told the truth; namely, if they want eternal life and peace, then they “must be born again”. And it is only when we repeat those words with the same humble attitude which Jesus had that we are really saying what Jesus said.

  • Reading Last Night

    Hey Pastor John,

    I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the reading last night. I had forgotten this was the section about Job, and as we read on, I could feel my excitement as we got closer to the parts where God explains what he was doing with Satan. As we were sitting there reading and enjoying what we had been shown, I could feel, for a very long time, a sensation of chills running over me. I had the thought, ‘Oh, I’m getting a little chilly’. But as we sat there and read and enjoyed it, I realized that it was the spirit of God running very faintly all over my body, and for quite a long time. It felt soo good. Even still after I got home, I kept replaying what we had read and heard and felt last night. It was a very good thought to me, when you said that as long as we think we have any bit of control of a situation, then we are not fully trusting in the Lord, and that we have not fully given it to Him. (I think that is how you said it) It is the human nature to “keep things under control” in our own realm of life, and where we have control of daily, even hourly and minutely, situations. But truly letting Jesus guide our life is always seeking His will. We really don’t know anything without Him. We don’t know how to be a good wife or husband, sister or brother, or anything else without Him.

    Last night really was good to my soul!

    Julie.

    p.s… Cliff and I won’t be there Wednesday night. He is in Hickory all this week for school, and I am going up on Tuesday night and spending the rest of the week with him.
    Aww…I hate that. Last night was so good!
    ==========

    Thanks, Julie. Rob and I were talking today about how the feelings from this weekend followed us home and have continued. So you were not the only one feeling that way!

    Concerning the point I was making, as long as we think we have something to add to God, any advice or wisdom concerning any particular situation, we really haven’t fully realized that we know nothing without His help. He really is our only hope – BUT He is enough! He loves us, and He is enough.

    Hope you and Cliff have a wonderful week together. Thanks for writing.

  • Father and Son material tonight

    Bro. John:

    I watched on Justin tonight and there were so many wonderful feelings from start to finish. I took notes on some “one-liners” that were so good:

    “God has no opinions, only knowledge” (Uncle Joe version: “We have no knowledge (without God), only opinions!”) 🙂

    It’s never ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – – it’s GOD!” Mmmmm, love it!

    One other thing you said tonight made me think of the following very sobering scripture I was reading this week in Nehemiah. You said, “We are in a position (in the truth) where there can be great cursing or great blessing.”

    Nehemiah 10: 28, 29

    And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;”

    How serious it is to take the vow of God and become His people. I remember how Bro. Glen loved Deuteronomy 28, where the blessings and the curses were listed. I don’t want to forget that it is not just blessings we receive when we enter into the oath of God, but also curses if we do not obey Him. It was very sobering to read these scriptures and be reminded of my vow to God and His vow to me.

    I am loving the Father and Son material. What a book it is going to be for God’s people! I know that it is only by the grace of God we believe what He has shown us. I pray His grace will touch others’ hearts to hear and feel what is in this anointed book. When you were reading concerning the story of Job tonight and paused because it was so good, my mind was on how much God is purging our hearts of Xty’s story of Job. And Xty’s story of God . . . . and even Satan! Oh, my, what thankfulness I feel right now!

    It is all so overwhelming – – – and good!

    Sandy 🙂

  • radio programs updated

    http://www.pastorjohnshouse.com/radio/

    Hey!

    Listening to these radio programs are such a blessing! Several times this past week I’ve been blessed in the car driving to work. Well, this morning I had the newest ones (5&6) playing and when the song “He’s a refuge for me’ came on the power of God hit me–tears flowing, speaking in tongues, dancing in my bedroom & joy in my soul!

    I’m very thankful for the time that is being put into the radio programs! It’s been worth it just for me, and I pray God’s people will feel the sincerity and the love of God in it as well.

  • What you think?

    Hi Pastor John,

    I am going to put this…or similar… on my website. Thought I would get your input, if any. I used to be able to teach around the truth, and now find that is not right or possible anymore for me. Since I am ‘rather new’ and learning at my age, I need to check with someone, YOU, who knows the truth and has been living it for years before I put it online and it may be wrong.

    So, here is what I have…and when I hear from you I will format it properly and post online. No hurry.

    Thanks..

    ==========

    As mentioned on the Home Page, there will not be an overflow of Scripture quotes here…but in the future there will be some. For now, we are only stating facts as they are.

    When I was a young child, the teacher nun explained that the Trinity is a ‘mystery’ and we must have faith to believe it without question. She further ‘enlightened’ us by telling us that the Trinity was like 3-in-1 Oil. At that young age I had no idea of the composition of that oil and I still do not know, or do I need to know.
    So, to put it simply, from that (clear?) explanation, I understood that God was a mixture of three beings, spirits, or whatever. Too confusing for my young mind at that time – and it still is. So, to resolve my young confused mind, I just put it aside and accepted that teaching.
    Just so you know, and I do not want to lead you in the wrong direction, God is NOT made up of oil nor is He to be compared to oil.

    Now I have come to a place where I realize the Truth about this mess! It is so simple, so real, and not confusing.

    God is God. Period! God the Father is a being.
    Jesus is His eternal Son. Remember the quote about ‘In the beginning was the Word . . . . . ‘.
    So far, so good. Simple, isn’t it?

    Spirit: The standard of life, the spirit of life. It is the life force within our being.
    HOLY SPIRIT is really so simple. It is the Spirit of God. His life force.
    That Holy Spirit is the Gift Jesus said he would leave with us. The Spirit of God, the HOLY Spirit.
    Simple…and not confusing.

    It was decided by the Council of Nicaea in 325 that belief in the Trinity is to be the norm. Some bishops and others were teaching that belief prior to the Council. A council is a committee – a group of people making decisions. I suppose the fine gentlemen just knew better than God who or what God is, so they voted and now God is what they decided.

    A bit of sarcasm here to make my point:
    Gosh, God is so fortunate to have such groups deciding who and what He is. Of course, we know rather well that as time went on those councils made, and still do make, all sorts of decisions for and about God. I guess God is just too tired or busy and needs that help.”

    Hi, Brother Ron!

    I wish this kind of simple truth was posted on billboards across America and around the world. How God’s people need to know Him, not the foolishness that men have said about Him. Thank you for helping to hasten that great day!

    God give you health and a long life, brother.

  • Isaiah 53

    Isaiah 53
    1. Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
    2. For he shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground. He has no form or comeliness, and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

    Just wondering. When Isaiah says “and when we shall see him”, is the “we” he is talking about, people after Pentecost who believed and not those who rejected the Son? What point in the future is he addressing?

  • baptism in Jesus’ name

    Pastor John,

    The instructions Peter gave on the new birth not only included repentance and receiving of the Holy Ghost but also the commandment to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. Pastor John, did you know that nowhere in the Bible is an example of Father, Son, Holy Ghost water baptism given? Water baptism was preformed in the Name of Jesus Christ, which is the Name given whereby we must be saved. Jesus is the Name of the Father, Name of the Son, and Name of the Holy Ghost. Oh what a mighty revelation is His Name. Great is the mystery of Godliness! The Word was made flesh. He came from the bosom of the Father and He returned to His bosom. I and my Father are ONE. Bless His Name! May Jesus reveal His Revelation of His Name.

    You have beautiful singing on your site. Thank you.

    Joan J.

    ==========

    Thank you, Sister Joan, for writing. We are very thankful to be able to provide music, teaching, and edifying testimonies on line for our family in Christ around the globe.

    The water baptism that the earliest believers practiced was “in Jesus’ name” because the Spirit led them to practice that baptism as long as God had not closed the for to the Jews. When that door was closed, there was no more need for any ceremony, whether it was the ceremony of animal sacrifice or water baptism. The only baptism that remained after that was the “one baptism” Paul was sent to preach to the Gentiles: the baptism of the holy ghost. When God sent Paul to the Gentiles with a gospel that differed from Peter’s gospel to the Jews (Gal. 2), that Gentile gospel included no ceremonies. That is why Paul taught the gentiles that there was only one baptism (Eph. 4), and he explained repeatedly that the baptism that counted now with God is the baptism God’s Son administers from heaven. It was in reference to the water baptism in Jesus’ name that Paul said, “Christ did not send me to baptize” (1Cor. 1), and it was in reference to the baptism of the holy ghost that he taught that we are “baptized into Christ” (Rom. 6; Gal. 3:27; 1Cor. 12:13).

    I know that those of the Oneness faith believe very strongly that salvation will be given only to those who are baptized in water “in Jesus’ name”. Paul’s gospel, and mine, would have you to reject any baptism in water at all, and be content with what Christ himself ministers to you from heaven. In truth, there is now no water baptism that is in Jesus’ name because the Spirit is leading no one to practice that ritual any more. The time for that is passed, and Paul’s “gospel of the uncircumcised” is all that remains.

    May God bless you and the saints there with you.
    Pastor John
    ==========

    Oh, how sad my heart is for you. I’ve long heard about men being deceived and deceiving others in the last days, but it is always shocking when you hear of such twisting of the Word as you believe. When Paul encountered disciples in Acts 19 they knew only John’s repentance; but, Paul expounded the scriptures unto them. They were then baptized(water) in the Name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost. Also when God turned to the Gentiles(Cornelius) and filled them with the Holy Ghost, Peter COMMANDED them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord! Turn from your perverting of the gospel and repent. Lord willing, I will not reply any more.

    Sincerely, Joan J
    ===========

    Thank you, Joan, for replying.

    I certainly do hope that what I do not understand, Jesus will help me see. And I thank you for any sincere prayer for me that you will pray.

    Just so that you will have it in mind, I would like to point out, first of all, that the twelve Ephesian disciples were Jews; otherwise, there would have been no need for Paul to baptize them with John’s baptism. Paul sternly condemned any Gentile believer who submitted to the law (Gal. 5), but he himself circumcised Timothy in the book of Acts – because he wanted Timothy, who was half-Jewish, to help him preach to the Jews. Paul even offered animal sacrifices later in the book of Acts because he was in Jerusalem and he knew that the Jews were still required by God to submit to the ceremonies of the law. The gentiles, however, never were. — which brings us to Cornelius.

    Cornelius was born of the Spirit before God gave Paul his gospel for the Gentiles. There is nothing else Peter could do, under the circumstances. His gospel for the circumcised nation of Israel was the only one God had given, and it included all the ceremonies ordained under the law, including the ceremony of John’s water baptism in Jesus’ name. After Paul was sent with the gospel of the Gentiles, however, he opposed any such commandment being given to them. He even said he wished the men who were telling his Gentile converts that they must submit to ceremonies were “cut off” from God (Gal. 5:12)!

    Thank you again for writing. I hope you will thoughtfully consider what I am telling you.

    Your servant in Christ,
    Pastor John
