  • Sins

    hi pastor john,

    Ii have question, i understand that when i was washed and my sins were forgiven by the blood/hollyghost of god, and i have to walk up rightly. why do christians claim that there past,present,and future sin are forgiven, before they commit them. im a bit confused on this matter, i know we have jesus as our high priest- something in my spirit just cant except what they claim.

    thanks,

    R S

    Hi Brother Rob!

    Christians teach that nonsense because they expect never to stop sinning.  You see, if Jesus has already paid for the sins they are still committing, then they can have peace and strong confidence as they continue following after the flesh and its lusts.  And if Jesus has already paid for their future sins, they can live in faith that it is done, and then they will never again be bothered with time-consuming things like conviction and repentance.  And then they can produce sermons and articles that proclaim that God is good because He knows that we will always sin no matter what Jesus did to deliver us from it, and so our loving heavenly Father took care of it all by His Son’s sacrifice.

    So, enjoy sin while you can, and praise the Lord!??!?

  • Ceremonies

    Bro. John:

    When I read Vince’s reply to the excerpt from your book, Jesus reminded me of what he spoke to me one morning recently about ceremonies:

    “Symbolism is NOT Me!”

    How much clearer or simpler could Jesus be than that?

    🙂

    Sister Sandy,

    I think that comment from Jesus to you is one of the most important truths that we, and all God’s children everywhere, need to take in.  O! would to God that all His children could just understand that simple word from the Lord!  They would “come out of her” in droves.

    The question is simply this:  “Ceremonies:  Do we want them or Him?”  They are NOT the same thing!  And we are not living in the OT time, when God’s people had no choice!  All they had was ceremonies.  What a golden opportunity is ours, to have the choice to serve God “in spirit and in truth”!

    From Vince’s email:

    “The communion ceremony was one of those ceremonies that I had a hard time understanding the reasoning behind, probably because I was not fully understanding Jesus’ real meaning by drinking his blood, and eating his flesh.  But when you were speaking to the folks in Louisville about the time when you were young, and you didn’t know what the little cups of wine were for, so you and your friend just drank them and pretended to be drunk, that stood out to me.  And then later on you said that’s what you have to do without God’s life in you; you have to PRETEND to drink of the Spirit, and PRETEND to have fellowship with the Father, the Son, and with each other.  Anyway, this really helped to clear things up for me.

    After reading through the Law for the first time a while back, what really struck me is how detailed the ceremonial works of the Law were, and how precisely God required them to be performed.   I just could not believe that God would go to so much trouble teaching Moses exactly what was required of Israel in the Old Testament (15 chapters on building the tabernacle alone!), and then give seemingly vague hints at ceremonies to be performed for His new Covenant.  Makes no sense, and rebellion really does seem to be what is necessary for someone to insist on forcing what Jesus said into a box and making a ceremony out of it.”

  • A Lady at Work

    John,

    I wanted to tell you about this lady that I get a chance to work with sometimes, but only when I work 3rd shift.  She has the holy Ghost and loves to feel the spirit.  She has been telling me of some of her feelings and when we were reading yesterday I thought of her a lot.  She gets condemned from people when she doesn’t go to church because she works 3rd shift every Saturday night.  She said one guy told her she needed to be water baptized, I told her that she has already received the one baptism.  She seems to really enjoy any truths that she hears.  She is feeling some right things from Jesus . The last thing she said to me was “I feel encouraged when I talk to you”.

    I am finding out thru this lady how wonderful it is to encourage God’s children, and how well we have been fed and helped, when I meet people like this. I gave her the Speaking in Tongues Book last Friday night.  She lives here in Burlington and her name is Kessie.

    Please pray for her.

    Thanks for your wonderful work on the book,
    Caroline

    Glad to hear you are staying on the job, Caroline, even while at work!  Be thankful for such an opportunity to do good for one of God’s lost sheep.

  • Christmas and Easter

    Hi Pastor John,

    What are we to do about Christmas & Easter? They had heathen roots, you know. Are we suppose to celebrate them?

    P. W.

    ===========

    Well, since I kinda like fat jolly elves, I do the Christmas thing. But I’m not really into pink bunny rabbits, so Easter I can leave off.

    Thanks.

    Pastor John

    ===========

    Sorry, but I could not resist replying on this issue: I am not into pink bunny rabbits either, but those chocolate ones with the big ears are really good! You mean you have never found a chocolate bunny rabbit in your refrigerator with the ears missing?! 🙂 Well, I know what to get you for Easter. Don’t be surprised if the poor little bunny comes to you deaf.

    S~

    ===========

    Thanks, Sandy. I needed that.

    Sheeesh! The way some people fear them, you would think that society’s holidays and customs were the devil himself. Everything in our culture had heathen roots; we can’t avoid all things on earth.

    Don’t we have better things to pray about than Santa Claus? You know, I still cannot forget that minister down near Charlotte who, a few years back, waged a vigorous campaign against Barney, the purple dinosaur. Well . . . um . . . Shoot, I may as well go ahead and get it off my chest . . . I liked watching Barney with my kids. I never felt they were going to get demon possessed while singing “Yankee Doodle” with a dancing dinosaur.

    The way I look at it, Christmas presents and chocolate (yes, I forgot about the brown bunnies) can be a lot of fun, and that’s about as deep as I care to get with all that stuff.

    Amen, Pastor John and Sandy!

    I like the time I get off from work with a lot of those holidays 🙂  and the fellowship we have during those days as well.  I will take all they will give me.

    Stuart

    ============

    Now, how would we feel, Stuart, if we preached against Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc., and then the US Congress heard it and believed that doctrine and did away with all holidays?  Now, wouldn’t we feel stupid!  If those who preach against such holidays want to show everybody they really believe what they preach, then let them refused to have any of those days off!  Let them all wortk straight through them all and show the world how happy a life that is.

  • Fasting

    Hi Pastor John,

    I have been talking to friends about fasting, could you explain fasting to me there seems to be many different ways to do this, and i want only what god would except.

    thank you,

    R S

    ============

    Brother Rob:

    The OT form of fasting was in the flesh; the NT form is to walk in the Spirit.  Fasting is no longer a matter of being strong-willed enough to do without food for a few days, as the scribes and Pharisees did it.  There is a great danger of pride in self-willed abuse of the body.  Paul referred to this, and called it “will worship”.  I do not that believe Jesus (or Moses, or Elijah) just made up his mind to go into the wilderness and then do without food and water for 40 days.  The Bible says he was “driven” into the wilderness by the Spirit (Mk. 1:12).  There, he became so caught up with seeking God that he forgot about the issue of food . . . as well his mother’s birthday, the problem the authorities were having with horse and mule manure on the streets of Jerusalem, and every other earthly matter.  Uncle Joe told me that true fasting is when you get so hungry (for God) that you forget about eating.

    Think about it.  Jesus told his disciples that they were unable to cast out certain demons because those demons came out “only by prayer and fasting”.  But one of the greatest criticisms Jesus ever received was that he ate and drank like a normal person, unlike John the baptizer who fasted (in the OT way) often.  So, obviously, Jesus was fasting in a way that his enemies could not recognize as fasting.

    God’s true fast is described in detail in Isaiah 58.  It is a way of living, not a man-willed way of not eating food.  If you want your prayers to mean something to God, just live as He says in that chapter to live, and trust him.

    Hi Damien.

    Yes, I saw this a few years ago on TV.  It’s been in the works a long time.  Those weird creatures described in Revelation are not in the distant future.  Until our generation, they creatures seemed impossible to many, especially unbelievers.  And many believers wrongly assumed those creatures were just symbolic.  But they are nearer to becoming a living reality than folk think.  The final breakthrough will be when scientists discover how to combine living beings and machines, in particular how to enable a living being’s brain cells to control the operations of it non-living attachments.

    It’s coming.

  • Question from Ebay Customer

    Dear Pastor John Clark,

    I just started listening to the first cd.  Do you really think you aren’t born again unless you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost?  That would mean every Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, etc is going to hell.  That would mean all but about 3% of America would be going to hell … much less the rest of the world.  This would include guys like Jonathan Edwards, Billy Graham, and C. H. Spurgeon.

    ===========

    Dear friend,

    You don’t know how many people have received the gift of God, the baptism of the holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.  Many who receive it do not tell about it for fear of displeasing their pastor and being “cast out of the synagogue”.

    Regardless of how many are now in hell because they did not obey God and receive His Spirit (Acts 5:32) that number will include you, too, if you don’t repent.  Don’t look to numbers of people.  Look to Jesus.

  • Brother Stuart – Thankful

    Hi Pastor John,

    What an honor and a privilege it is to be where God and his Son are doing their work!!  We were so blessed Sunday to meet two saints of God that have heard his voice and believed it!  And keep it.  I felt so honored to be in the same room with them.

    And to see the power of God all over Sister Teri Saturday night was a sight that not many people get to see in their lifetime, and yet it is something we get to see over and over again as God’s spirit fills our gatherings with his power and love.  I loved seeing brother Sony feeling and expressing the power of God that is able to keep you and lift you up, and carry you all the way home.  It was beautiful!!

    It was an honor to see Brother Michael humbled under the power of God and hear him tell about his dream the Lord gave him the night before, and to show how he was feeling about what the spirit was showing him in the dream and what he wants in his life.

    I am overwhelmed, and I thank God that he has allowed me to see and hear such things on this earth, among us mortals that are created from the dust of the earth that he breathed into.  I am lost for words to express my gratitude and thankfulness for what he has done for us.

    You’d get a lot of “amens” on that, Brother Stuart!

  • Wednesday Night in Louisville

    Hi Pastor John:

    Sitting in Bro. Paul’s living room Wed night listening to the reading on The Father And The Son pages was an honor.  I looked at my bible and saw how a precious thing it is; I mean, all the scriptures that were used in both the OT and NT from over 2000 yrs of history — and God revealing himself to many authors to tell us a more complete story of His son.  I was seeing the love of God for us.  He could have revealed them to anyone, and maybe there are others, but sometimes it’s very hard to grasp the magnitude of His love for our little group.  Watching everyone’s smiles, and feeling what they feel, made my blood bubble for happiness and joy.

    Things have been crazy the last 6 months with Mom dying, and at work, so to feel those good feelings like that again was worth every mile coming back from Virginia to be there last night.  I would say I can’t wait for the finished product, your new book, but it’s very nice to be fed a little at a time.  It was like dinning at a very fine resturant, where you have people waiting on you hand and foot, and not like a fast food place. You can take your time and really chew you food in small bites and slowly sit back and digest everything and wait for that satisfying feeling that comes from a good dinner.

    Thank you for coming and thank you for staying longer than you planned.

    bro. billy

  • Stuart – “Falleth”

    Hi Pastor John

    Proverbs 24:16:  “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked fall into mischief.”

    I looked up the word “falleth” and found a couple of definitions that I really liked, besides the usual ones like “fall”, “cast down”.  The ones that stuck out to me were “be judged” and “overwhelm”.

    I have been thinking about this scripture for a couple of days and some of the thoughts I have had ae these:  “When a wicked man falls, he feels mistreated, but when a just man falls, he just feels treated.”  He feels he has been judged, and he maybe a little overwhelmed at times, and he has missed the mark.  So, he continues on and learns from what he just went through. But the wicked say “What’s the use?  I can’t do anything right; everything I do is wrong.”  And even if they don’t say it out loud, that is how they feel in their hearts.

    Another one of my favorite scriptures is this:

    Proverbs 6:23:  “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instructions are the way of life.”

    If we want to go into the way of life, reproofs and instructions are the way to get there.  And we all need them.

    Stuart
