{"id":10084,"date":"2018-01-30T16:23:54","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T16:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=10084"},"modified":"2018-01-30T16:23:54","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T16:23:54","slug":"revelation-1118","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/10084\/revelation-1118\/","title":{"rendered":"Revelation 11:18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">John,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Verse 18\u00a0of revelation 11 says that God will &#8220;destroy those that destroy the earth.\u201d\u00a0 What does that phrase mean?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">JWS<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Good question, Wendell.\u00a0 I have wondered about that unusual statement many times over the years.\u00a0 I assume that in this verse, John is using &#8220;earth&#8221; the way the prophets did occasionally, that is, as a reference to the people of the Lord.\u00a0 Here is the section of the\u00a0<\/span><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goingtojesus.com\/text\/books\/fatherandson.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God Had a Son before Mary Did<\/a><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"> book which deals with that:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u201cThe Earth\u201d Will Never Hunger or Thirst Again<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It will help to understand the next prophecy of the Son if one is aware that \u201cthe earth\u201d is sometimes used prophetically as a reference to the people of God, just as \u201cthe sea\u201d is sometimes used as a reference to people of the world.\u00a0 We find instances of God\u2019s people being referred to as \u201cthe earth\u201d in Psalm\u00a02:10, Isaiah 66:8, and Revelation12:16, while in Revelation\u00a017:15, \u201cthe sea\u201d represents the world\u2019s \u201cpeoples, and multitudes, and nations, and languages.\u201d\u00a0 Here in Isaiah 49, the Son reveals that the Father will answer his prayers for us and will give him power to raise \u201cthe earth\u201d from the dead and to give them an eternal inheritance, never again to suffer hunger or thirst, or any such thing:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Isaiah 49<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">8. This is what the Lord [the Father] said: \u201cIn an acceptable time I will answer you, and in the day of salvation, I will help you.\u00a0 And I will watch over you and give you for a covenant of the people, to cause the earth [God\u2019s people] to rise to inherit desolate inheritances,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">9. saying to the prisoners, \u2018Come out!\u2019\u00a0 And to those in darkness, \u2018Show <i>y<\/i>ourselves!\u2019\u00a0 They shall feed along the roads, and their pastures\u00a0<i>shall be<\/i>\u00a0in all the high places.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">10. And they shall neither hunger nor thirst, and heat and sun shall not beat upon them.\u00a0 For He who pities them shall guide them, and by springs of water shall He refresh them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Thanks for asking.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>PS.
