{"id":10204,"date":"2018-05-09T12:00:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T12:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=10204"},"modified":"2018-05-09T12:00:50","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T12:00:50","slug":"abraham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/10204\/abraham\/","title":{"rendered":"Abraham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hey John&#8230;Qs&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In reading chapters 12-24, I\u2019m getting the impression that Abraham was an inconsistent patriarch.\u00a0 While on one hand, a great man of faith and obedience, he was also weak and faithless in some situations&#8230;with Sarah&#8230;with Pharaoh, and later Abimelech, he stumbled, doubted, hesitated, lied&#8230; out of a lack of trusting in God.\u00a0 What do we conclude about Abraham, overall?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">=========<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">We should conclude that Abraham is the father of all the faithful, so that every person on earth who has genuine faith is called a child of Abraham by both Jesus and Paul.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I will caution you, as I have cautioned the congregation here, to avoid condemning Abraham for the errors you mentioned because God did not. If you or I had been in the incredibly difficult, unique situation Abraham put himself in, out of great love for and faith in God, we would have done much worse.\u00a0 We must all be cautious about assuming we are able to judge any man who is called \u201cthe friend of God\u201d (Jas.\u00a02:23).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0=========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Next&#8230; in a commentary by brother J.
