I also know it wouldn&#8217;t have been used in NIV either. \u00a0SO I wondered what made you use that term? Was it the greek word used in\u00a0 those greek bibles? Jesus is rarely called the master in most translations, I don&#8217;t think,\u00a0so I was interested to know. \u00a0I must say I like the use of &#8216;master&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny<\/p>\n<p>================<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Hi Jenny.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>A root meaning of the Greek word &#8220;kurios&#8221; (usually translated as &#8220;lord&#8221;) is &#8220;owner&#8221;. \u00a0In Paul&#8217;s world, slaveowners were called &#8220;master&#8221;, and I believe that is the characteristic of Jesus that he was trying to convey. \u00a0Most often, when modern translations have &#8220;servant&#8221; or &#8220;serve&#8221; in the NT, the Greek word is actually &#8220;slave&#8221;. \u00a0Paul was a slave of the Master, Jesus Christ, and he was not shy about saying so.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Pastor John, I noticed that the new\u00a0translation of Philippians refers to Jesus as &#8220;the master&#8221;.\u00a0When I referred to the KJV, and the Good News I noted it wasn&#8217;t used in either.
