Okay…I wonder if you expected a few of your flock to not understand this? \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, I’m stepping up to admit that Allie and I can’t figure it out, no matter which way we try to see it.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, we assume that you’re talking about\u00a0sinners (humans) sympathizing with saints (us)…<\/span><\/p>\n

…if my daughter (a mere human) was sympathetic\u00a0to me when\u00a0I was ill in bed, why would her\u00a0sympathy send ME to hell?<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway, we tried to see it from different\u00a0angles\u00a0and don’t get it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing, including sin, will send you to hell if you live above it.\u00a0 The meaning of that excerpt from Solomon’s Wisdom<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is that if we\u00a0depend on<\/u>\u00a0human sympathy, it will lead us into hell.\u00a0 My father once said, “I’m more afraid of this thing people call love than anything I know of.”\u00a0 Human love will send us to hell \u2013 if we don’t live above it.\u00a0 The apostles’ human love for Jesus would have prevented him from going to the cross to\u00a0die\u00a0for their sins.\u00a0\u00a0Peter even pulled out his sword and attacked the ones who came to arrest Jesus.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Everything human (“in the flesh” as Paul would say it) is worthless to our souls.\u00a0 Anything human, then, can send us to hell if we don\u2019t live above it: human love; human sympathy; human friendships (that is enmity against God); human relatives; human opinions; etc.\u00a0\u00a0You name it.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
