{"id":12137,"date":"2021-06-23T15:02:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T15:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=12137"},"modified":"2021-06-23T15:02:00","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T15:02:00","slug":"isaiah-324","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/12137\/isaiah-324\/","title":{"rendered":"Isaiah\u202c \u202d3:24"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">I was reading in Isaiah this morning, and I read this and it made me wonder if this is this where monks got their &#8220;lowly&#8221; status and clothing from?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">\u201cInstead of perfume there will be rottenness; and instead of a belt, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a skirt of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.\u201d &#8212;&nbsp;Isaiah 3:24 ESV<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">It was oddly specific to what they wear.&nbsp; I realized before that it was talking about women, but I can&#8217;t tell if this verse was directed to the preceding ones, or talking about men too?&nbsp; It said turbans and that was predominately a male headdress correct?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much obliged,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jonathan Sellers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>===========<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0013a1;\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Hi Jonathan.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><em><span style=\"color:#0013a1;\" class=\"has-inline-color\">What a great thing it is for young people to be reading the Scriptures and really thinking about what they read!<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 <span style=\"color:#0013a1;\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Thank you!\u00a0 There is a reward from Jesus for that when it is done sincerely.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><em><span style=\"color:#0013a1;\" class=\"has-inline-color\">As for turbans, they may be for men or women, though styles will differ for each.\u00a0 In the verses from Isaiah 3 (our translation is below), God is denouncing only the proud women in Jerusalem.\u00a0 He has plenty to say to the proud men in other places,\u00a0as I am sure you have read.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isaiah 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">16. Moreover, Jehovah says, because&nbsp;<em>y<\/em>ou are haughty, O daughters of Zion, and walk about with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as&nbsp;<em>y<\/em>ou go, and with their feet, they jingle their anklets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">17. But my Lord will strike with a scab the scalp of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will expose their private parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">18. In that day, my Lord will take away finery: the anklets, and the headbands, and the crescent-shaped ornaments,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">19. the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20. the tiaras, and the armlets, and the sashes, and vials of perfume, and the charms,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21. the rings and the nose-rings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22. the festal robes, and the mantles, and the cloaks, and the purses,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>23. and the mirrors, and the fine linen, and the headdresses, and the shawls,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">24. and it will be that instead of a sweet aroma, there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a fancy robe, a wrap of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>25.
