Luke 1:12. When Zacharias saw the angel, he was troubled, and fear fell on him.<\/span>
\n 13. But the angel said to him, \u201cDo not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bare you a son, and you shall call his name John.<\/span>
\n 14. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,<\/span>
\n 15. for he will be great before the Lord, and he will not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with holy spirit from his mother\u2019s womb.<\/span>
\n 16. Many of the children of Israel will he turn to the Lord their God,<\/span>
\n 17. and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to prepare a people made ready for the Lord.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What a great function to have! “And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

That’s a good observation by Rebekah. I thought about how Jesus had a great anointing too – it was to turn many AWAY from understanding him:<\/span><\/p>\n

Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.<\/span>
\n Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:<\/span>
\n Mat 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.<\/span>
\n Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That took power from God too, I believe. Jesus and the Father were very particular on who would understand him.<\/span><\/p>\n
