{"id":13245,"date":"2022-09-03T00:12:38","date_gmt":"2022-09-03T00:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=13245"},"modified":"2022-09-03T00:12:38","modified_gmt":"2022-09-03T00:12:38","slug":"joshua-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/13245\/joshua-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Joshua 9\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Good morning, Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">What is the lesson for us in Joshua honoring an agreement with someone that is deceptive?\u00a0 And that story in Judges is not the first time that happened.\u00a0 Isaac&#8217;s blessing on Jacob stood, even though Jacob lied in order to get it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">How does this apply today?\u00a0 If I make an agreement with someone who deals deceptively with me, am I supposed to honor those agreements?\u00a0 Or is it a different lesson?\u00a0 It mentions in Judges that Joshua and the other leaders &#8220;did not inquire of God.&#8221;\u00a0 Is that the lesson?\u00a0 In Genesis, with Isaac, I don&#8217;t remember inquiry with God being mentioned, either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I know there&#8217;s something here for me, and I want to get the correct message, not something I imagine.\u00a0 I know that in Genesis, Jacob&#8217;s blessings from Isaac was to fulfill prophecy.\u00a0 And in Judges, it made it easier to conquer the land and it fulfilled God&#8217;s curse on Ham&#8217;s grandson, Canaan.\u00a0 Are they both to fulfill prophecies only, or is there something else for me today?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Mark<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">===========<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Hi Mark.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Someone in Joshua&#8217;s position is held to a very high standard.\u00a0 He should never have bound the nation to a pact with those foreigners without consulting God first.\u00a0 Moses would not have. The situation with Isaac and the blessing is similar.\u00a0 God used Isaac&#8217;s weakness for tasty food, and Jacob&#8217;s craftiness, to get the blessing to Isaac, but had they not had those weaknesses, God would have gotten the blessing to Jacob some other way, for that was His promise.\u00a0 Both men, Isaac and Jacob, were in a hurry to get what they wanted.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>In Proverbs 19:2, Solomon warned his son that the man who is in a hurry will sin.\u00a0 We will all profit if we will just slow down and wait on the Lord in times when we have to make decisions.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning, Pastor John, What is the lesson for us in Joshua honoring an agreement with someone that is deceptive?\u00a0 And that story in Judges is not the first time that happened.\u00a0 Isaac&#8217;s blessing on Jacob stood, even though Jacob lied in order to get it.
