{"id":13285,"date":"2022-09-18T23:49:01","date_gmt":"2022-09-18T23:49:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=13285"},"modified":"2022-09-18T23:49:01","modified_gmt":"2022-09-18T23:49:01","slug":"treasure-reproof","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/13285\/treasure-reproof\/","title":{"rendered":"Treasure Reproof"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I&#8217;ve been translating Proverbs to get it ready to go over together, and I had a verse that struck me last night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Proverbs 15:10<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Correction\u00a0<em>seems<\/em>\u00a0malignant to him who leaves the path; he who hates reproof will die.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It was frightening to me.\u00a0 Once you leave the path, any correction people give you seems like it&#8217;s not right.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t apply, or it doesn&#8217;t have your best interest at heart.\u00a0 And in the end, &#8220;he who hates reproof will die&#8221;.\u00a0 What a terrible trap to be in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">But then I remembered a verse I had just translated:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Proverbs 15:5<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">A fool spurns his father&#8217;s correction, but he who treasures reproof is prudent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">KJV has &#8220;&#8230;he that regardeth reproof is prudent.&#8221;, but that didn&#8217;t quite capture what it&#8217;s saying to me.\u00a0 Someone who treasures reproof watches over it, remembers it, and keeps it in his heart. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">God help us treasure reproof!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Aaron<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">=========<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Excellent, Aaron!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Keep up the good work in Proverbs, etc.\u00a0 Jesus is guiding you.\u00a0 I love this.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#0013a3;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pastor John, I&#8217;ve been translating Proverbs to get it ready to go over together, and I had a verse that struck me last night.
