{"id":13344,"date":"2022-10-18T13:26:19","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T13:26:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=13344"},"modified":"2022-10-18T13:26:19","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T13:26:19","slug":"our-new-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/13344\/our-new-past\/","title":{"rendered":"Our New Past"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hey Bro John:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I asked Amy to send me what she had on The New Past to try to jog my memory on the timeline of when the Lord showed it to me.\u00a0 Still not sure exact date, but after I read what you wrote here in this blog, no matter when it came from the Lord, what you wrote in this blog is WONDERFUL!\u00a0 I think it would benefit us all to read this again and take it into our hearts.\u00a0 It surely blessed me all over again!\u00a0 Jesus is serious about giving us a New Past and all the blessings that come with it! \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">You really covered some wonderful things in this blog!\u00a0 It is rich with wisdom!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">So glad I got to read this again.\u00a0 Thank you Amy for finding and sending this today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Sandy\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">=========<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The New Past<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">John Clark, Sr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">7\/18\/2001<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The \u201cnew past\u201d that Jesus offers everyone who trusts in him is what Paul referred to in 2 Cor. 5: \u201cTherefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature. \u00a0Old things are passed away; behold ALL THINGS are become new.\u201d \u00a0If we have the faith to believe it, one of the \u201call things\u201d that become new in Christ is our \u201cold past\u201d, that is, our history before Jesus took us in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The \u201cnew past\u201d is also what Paul referred to in Romans 11, where he told the Gentile believers that they had been \u201cgrafted\u201d into the olive tree of Israel by the power of God. \u00a0Now, when we are grafted into the olive tree of faith, the history of that olive tree becomes ours. \u00a0That olive tree\u2019s sap is our sap; its root is our root, and its future is our future. \u00a0This \u201cnew past\u201d which becomes ours includes the testimony of Abel, Job, and Noah, of Abraham and David, of Daniel, Jeremiah, and the prophets, and the righteous, wise men and women of all time. \u00a0Our past includes the testimonies of Paul and of John and of Peter. \u00a0It includes (praise God!) The testimony of the Lord Jesus \u201cwho witnessed as good profession before Pilate\u201d. \u00a0The men and women of faith are our ancestors now, if we are in Christ, and he is our elder brother.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The phrase \u201cnew past\u201d confuses the unbelieving because the \u201cnew past\u201d is in faith, and faith is foreign to them. \u00a0It confuses the rebellious because the \u201cnew past\u201d is in obedience, and they do not obey the will of God. \u00a0The message of a \u201cnew past\u201d troubles the trouble-makers in the Church because they new past is in peace, and peace irritates those who irritate God. \u00a0What does it mean that \u201cold things are passed away\u201d, if our old habits, our old complaints, and our old sins still cling to us, confusing and discouraging us? \u00a0Are they passed away or are they not.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Some years ago, as Sister Sandy was in the midst of a sad visit with her elderly, unbelieving mother, the Lord spoke to her and said, \u201cYou are not a product of that union any more\u201d. \u00a0We who are in Christ \u201care not debtors to the flesh\u201d. \u00a0That is, we do not owe our existence to the human beings who produced our physical bodies. \u00a0God had our names written in His Book of Life before the world was created; He had claims on us before our natural parents were even born. \u00a0In Christ, we are no longer a product of that physical union of two human bodies; we are the product of the will and Word of God. \u00a0It was His choice alone, not theirs, that we are here. \u00a0If our natural parents had tried to prevent our birth, the stones themselves would have brought us forth! \u00a0We are the offspring of a race of men created by the power and love of God, beginning with \u201cthe new man Adam\u201d who was nailed to a tree in ancient Judah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0There is no unbelief in our \u201cnew past\u201d because the new past includes only men and women of faith. \u00a0There is no confusion in our new past because the new past includes only men and women with the knowledge of God. \u00a0There is no grumbling and ill will in our \u201cnew past\u201d because that past includes men and women who trusted God and loved people. \u00a0The testimonies of the upright become our history when our history itself becomes new. \u00a0When our father becomes Abraham, then our history includes leaving Babylonia behind! \u00a0When our high priest becomes Christ, then our new history includes the Levitical priesthood that foreshadowed his work. \u00a0In Christ, OUR FOREFATHERS built an ark out of gopher wood and waited for the rain, OUR FOREFATHERS crossed the Red Sea in faith, looking toward the Land of Promise, our forefathers trembled before God at the base of Mount Sinai, our forefathers willingly brought gold and silver to David for the building of God\u2019s temple, our forefathers waited for the Promise of God in an upper room in Jerusalem, and our forefathers proclaimed the truth of Jesus to the ancient Roman world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In Christ, they were also our forefathers who were despised by men, who wandered about with no shelter, who were stoned, who were imprisoned and persecuted. \u00a0And for those in Christ, it was our \u201ceverlasting father\u201d who was crucified for the sins of the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">This is what the \u201cnew past\u201d means. \u00a0In Christ, there is nothing that we fear because our forefathers were fearless, and holy courage is all that runs in our veins. \u00a0There is nothing that can discourage us because in the blood of our new family runs nothing but faith that we \u201ccan do all things through Christ who strengthens us.\u201d \u00a0There is no sin of the old past that can drag us back into darkness because in our veins runs a holiness that terrifies Satan himself. \u00a0We cannot be overcome with confusion because the knowledge of God infuses our spirits. \u00a0No weapon formed against us can prosper. \u00a0All things are ours, and we are Christ\u2019s, and Christ is God\u2019s. \u00a0There is nothing that can separate us from the Love of God because the love of God created and fills both our history and us. \u00a0God created our new past for us, had that new past written down, and encourages us to read it every now and then.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Do you doubt God? \u00a0You\u2019re living in the old past. \u00a0Do you hold a grudge against a brother or a sister? \u00a0You\u2019re trying to resurrect the old man. \u00a0Do you fear the future? \u00a0You are believing a lie, as if the old past still has any power over you. \u00a0Are you not free to praise the God of the whole earth?
