Ezekiel 18<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. \u201cWhy are\u00a0you using this parable concerning the land of Israel, saying, \u2018Fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children\u2019s teeth are set on\u00a0edge\u2019?<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. As I live, says the Lord God,\u00a0I will damn myself <\/em>if you will continue to use this parable in Israel.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In Ezekiel 18:2, God\u2019s people were saying that their fathers disobeyed God (the \u201csour grapes\u201d) and that they were suffering the consequences.\u00a0\u00a0That was the truth.\u00a0\u00a0Their fathers had sinned, and they were suffering for it.\u00a0\u00a0But God added the more important promise that in the Final Judgment, no one would reap another\u2019s sin.\u00a0\u00a0He said in verse 4, \u201cBehold, all souls are mine, the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son; they are mine.\u00a0\u00a0The soul that sins, it shall die!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

    In Jeremiah 31, God also said it:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. In those days, they will no longer say, \u2018The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children\u2019 teeth are set on edge.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Instead, every man will die in his own iniquity; every man who eats sour grapes, his own teeth will be set on edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
