{"id":13883,"date":"2023-05-15T15:39:43","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T15:39:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=13883"},"modified":"2023-05-15T15:39:43","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T15:39:43","slug":"proverbs-278-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/13883\/proverbs-278-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Proverbs 27:8\u201310"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Proverbs 27:8.\u00a0Like a bird departing from her nest is a man departing from his place.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"9\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Oil and incense gladden the heart, and the sweetness of one\u2019s friend springs from hearty counsel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Do not forsake your friend or your father\u2019s friend, and do not enter your kinsman\u2019s house in the day of your calamity; a neighbor nearby is better than a distant kinsman.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">I was listening to the Proverbs recording, and you all were discussing these verses, and I had a thought.\u00a0 Not sure it is right so thought I would ask you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Is that saying that if you get out of your place, don&#8217;t turn to those fleshly connections or worldly family and become a reproach to Jesus?\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get hurt or bitter and turn to them?\u00a0 It&#8217;s better to talk to a stranger than to be a reproach?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Beth D.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>Hi Beth.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>Your thoughts are right and good, but I do not see that Solomon is saying that to his son in those verses.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>First of all, I don&#8217;t see a connection between verses 8 and 10.\u00a0 Secondly, in verse 10, Solomon is dealing with relationships, advising his son (in the middle of that verse) not to burden a kinsman when trouble comes; otherwise, he may drive that kinsman away.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>A number of Solomon&#8217;s proverbs are puzzling, and without help from Jesus, we cannot rightly or fully explain them.\u00a0 God&#8217;s thoughts certainly are not our thoughts, as Isaiah said.\u00a0 So, I just rejoice in the proverbs that I can understand and wait on God for the rest.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>Thank you for writing, Beth.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #0013a3\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proverbs 27:8.\u00a0Like a bird departing from her nest is a man departing from his place.
