Hey John,<\/span><\/p>\n

In Matthew 3:16, which of the pronouns he\/him refer to John the Baptist?\u00a0 I assume it’s the two that I underlined:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0“And after he was baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to\u00a0him<\/u>, and\u00a0he<\/u>\u00a0saw the Spirit of God, in the form of a dove, descending and coming upon him.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In light of the fact that John the Baptist said that seeing the dove would be a sign to him, I would say you are correct.\u00a0 This is from the Gospel of John, chapter 1:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. John testified, saying, \u201cI saw the Spirit descending from heaven in the form of a dove, and it remained on him.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. And I did not know him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water told me, \u2018Upon whomever you see the Spirit descend and remain on him, he is the one who baptizes with holy Spirit.\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. And I have seen, and I testify that this is the Son of God!\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Of course, Jesus may have seen that dove as well, but we know for sure that John did.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
