Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Spirit-filled believer’s clear conscience toward God is a must.\u00a0\u00a0Real faith in God lives in having a clear conscience.\u00a0\u00a0Yet, the apostle Paul\u00a0(1Cor. 4:4) said the following:\u00a0“I am conscious of nothing against myself; however, by that, I am not justified.\u00a0\u00a0The Lord is the one who judges me.”<\/span><\/p>\n

A clear conscience in the Lord is everything, yet, in\u00a0many\u00a0ways,\u00a0it is nothing.\u00a0\u00a0Both\u00a0statements\u00a0are true.\u00a0\u00a0I believe our study of the Lord’s judgments in the book of Job has helped me to understand this.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just as Job was a perfect man according to every standard established by God\u00a0on earth \u2013\u00a0yet that was nothing in the sight of God\u00a0\u2013\u00a0so is a clear conscience toward God, if we understand Paul rightly:\u00a0a clear conscience is required, but it in no way justifies\u00a0us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lesson of Job to us has been that our glorying is in Jesus, not in our deeds.\u00a0\u00a0It is not in our righteousness. Nor is it even in our perfect response to the Father and His Son.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our being is in Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0Our mercy is in Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0It is because Jesus accepts\u00a0our deeds\u00a0that we live, not because they themselves are anything to Him who created it all.\u00a0\u00a0He has granted us life through these mercies.\u00a0\u00a0They do not carry us to him or make us worthy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our clear conscience is not our glory.\u00a0\u00a0Our glory is in Him who will accept it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The revelation we have recently experienced in learning so much more about God through the book of Job is making the Father and Son so much greater in everything \u2013 and it makes man so much smaller.\u00a0\u00a0It makes\u00a0His every mercy to us so big.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is as I have often said, Jesus’ perfect sacrifice did not accomplish redemption for us;\u00a0his Father’s acceptance<\/u>\u00a0of that perfect sacrifice did.\u00a0 Jesus had to be perfect,\u00a0and\u00a0he was, but the Father alone decided it was sufficient.\u00a0 His acceptance of Jesus is what “sealed the deal”.\u00a0 And, thank God, He has made us acceptable in His sight, through Jesus.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Ephesians 1:1, 7.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heaven,\u00a0in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the richness of His grace.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
