Good morning pastor John!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I was listening to what you said at the\u00a0funeral\u00a0service and it brought up the question in me that\u00a0death\u00a0always brings up, which is,\u00a0what exactly happens when we die?\u00a0\u00a0I don’t know why the thought of sleeping and not going straight to Jesus troubles me,\u00a0but it does.\u00a0\u00a0Maybe it is just some\u00a0left over baggage and wrong ideas from Christianity.<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to go straight to Jesus when I leave this world.\u00a0\u00a0I daydream about that moment!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, I know it doesn’t matter what I want!\u00a0 \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet,\u00a0I have been pondering that,\u00a0and trying to remember everything I have learned thus far\u00a0from you,\u00a0and\u00a0going through what scriptures I can find.\u00a0\u00a0I just wanted to ask you a question to make sure what I think I remember is correct.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Jesus died and descended into the heart of the earth for\u00a0three\u00a0days, he preached the gospel to those that were down there.\u00a0\u00a0When he left there,\u00a0he took Abraham, Lazarus,\u00a0and others that were not on the side of\u00a0Torment, with him?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And the thief on the cross, Jesus said he was going to be in\u00a0Paradise with him, that day?\u00a0 “Jesus said to him, \u201cTruly, I tell you,\u00a0today<\/strong>\u00a0you\u2019ll be with me in\u00a0Paradise\u201d\u00a0(Lk. 23:43).<\/span><\/p>\n

In my book, “What the Bible Really Says about Hell” this is explained in some detail.\u00a0 Before Jesus ascended back into heaven, Sheol (or, Hell) was divided into two parts, Paradise and Torment.\u00a0 Jesus transferred Paradise into heaven after he ascended into heaven and cast Satan and his angels out.\u00a0 The righteous, as spirits without bodies,\u00a0still go\u00a0into\u00a0Paradise when they die, but\u00a0Paradise is no longer in\u00a0the heart of the earth.\u00a0\u00a0Paradise\u00a0is now\u00a0where Jesus is.\u00a0\u00a0Saints in Paradise\u00a0do not have their new bodies yet, however;\u00a0Jesus will give them new bodies when he comes and resurrects them from the dead,\u00a0implanting their happy spirits into the glorious bodies God has prepared for them.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t worry.\u00a0 If we love and obey Jesus while we are in these fleshly bodies, whatever he does with us after we shed them will be good, and we will love it.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
