{"id":14963,"date":"2024-08-16T08:44:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T13:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/?p=14963"},"modified":"2024-08-19T16:57:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T21:57:49","slug":"question-1-corinthians-45","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/14963\/question-1-corinthians-45\/","title":{"rendered":"Question: 1 Corinthians 4:5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Good morning, Pastor John.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In\u00a01Corinthians 4:5 it reads,\u00a0\u201dSo, judge nothing before the time,\u00a0<em>but wait<\/em>\u00a0until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and expose the intentions of hearts, and then from God will praise be given to each one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is this referring to when Jesus comes back in the end, or could \u201cwait until the Lord comes\u201d be referring to a present time when the Lord makes His judgement known to us on a particular matter?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thank you,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Anna<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Hi Anna.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Paul&#8217;s words could be taken to mean the same thing Jesus taught about judging if you put two of Jesus&#8217; commandments together.\u00a0 First, Jesus commanded his disciples to <strong>&#8220;stop judging, so that\u00a0you won\u2019t be judged&#8221;<\/strong> (Mt. 7:1).\u00a0 Then, he clarified what he meant in John 7:24, when he\u00a0told\u00a0them, &#8220;Do not judge by appearances, but judge righteous judgment!\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Put together, those two commandments tell us that we, in our own wisdom, are not to judge anything, but are to receive from the Spirit whatever judgments we make.\u00a0\u00a0So, yes, what Paul said could be taken that way, and that would be true.\u00a0 We are to be led by the\u00a0Spirit in our judgments.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>But I think that in the scripture above, Paul was speaking of the return of Jesus at the end of this age to declare God&#8217;s judgment concerning who will be saved from His wrath and who will not be saved.\u00a0 For anyone at the present\u00a0time, then, to claim to be saved is jumping the gun, to say the least.\u00a0 Jesus will have the final word on that.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Hope that clears things up for you.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tell us what you think:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WitnessofSpirit\/status\/1825653236281520232\">https:\/\/x.com\/WitnessofSpirit\/status\/1825653236281520232<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning, Pastor John.
