{"id":15136,"date":"2024-10-29T10:33:35","date_gmt":"2024-10-29T15:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/?p=15136"},"modified":"2024-10-31T10:46:38","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T15:46:38","slug":"two-thoughts-from-the-father-and-son-reading-10-27-2024-section-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/15136\/two-thoughts-from-the-father-and-son-reading-10-27-2024-section-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Thoughts from the Father and Son reading (10\/27\/2024) Section 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hey Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After you left our house tonight, I remembered a couple of things that stood out to me from\u00a0<em>The Father and Son* <\/em>reading this Past Sunday night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first part was from the\u00a0<em>Just a Few<\/em>\u00a0section.\u00a0 \u00a0It said, \u201cSince nothing good dwells in us, as Paul said, it follows that if anyone feels guilt for doing wrong, it is never that he is convicted by his own conscience, for conviction for sin is good, and good is not in us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nothing good in us\u2026 what a thought!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That led me to wonder what the difference\u00a0 is\u00a0between conviction and condemnation, as seen in 1 John 3:19-20: \u201cAnd by this, we know that we are of the truth, and we will assure our hearts before Him, for if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and He understands everything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is condemnation the opposite of justification?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">===========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Condemnation and conviction are parts of the same experience.\u00a0\u00a0Our hearts condemn us only when God convicts us of wrongdoing.\u00a0\u00a0Our hearts, on their own, cannot condemn us.\u00a0 God must first convict us.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And if faith is having confidence that what I am doing is pleasing to God, then what would be the opposite of that\u2014the confidence that what I am doing is displeasing to God?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Such confidence is what faith is, and faith is the opposite of unbelief, which is refusing to believe the truth that God freely offers.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Also, in the\u00a0<em>Finding Glory<\/em>\u00a0section, you said, \u201cMany of God\u2019s children who join a Christian church live unsatisfied lives, unfulfilled in Church religion, but thinking they are pleasing God, they go along with the program.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That touched me because it is the absolute truth to me.\u00a0\u00a0In Christianity, I felt that hope-crushing \u00a0burden.\u00a0\u00a0I called that miserable feeling \u201ckeeping the faith\u201d or \u201cfighting the good fight.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Sure, I had some good times at church functions, but when I\u2019d get home, I\u2019d feel empty.\u00a0 I wanted the Holy Ghost;
