Were the Magi who came to see the baby Jesus Jews?<\/span><\/p>\n

Hi Wendell,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There is nothing in the Bible which\u00a0indicates the\u00a0Magi were Jews.\u00a0 Some who lived in Mesopotamia were well-known observers of the skies, as far back as Babylonian times.\u00a0 So, to have Magi observing the stars and determining that a king had been born in Israel fits that narrative.\u00a0 The real question is, what did the\u00a0Magi see in the heavens that let them know a\u00a0king had been born?\u00a0 And why did they even make that long journey to honor him?\u00a0 Kings’ sons were\u00a0being\u00a0born all the time.\u00a0 Did they travel to other countries as well?\u00a0 If not, maybe they were indeed Jews who had learned from the heathen in Mesopotamia how to read the stars.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There is much more that we do not know (about anything, really) than there is that we know.\u00a0 So, let’s stay thankful for what God has revealed.\u00a0 He did not have to do it; He just wanted\u00a0to because He loved\u00a0us.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
