{"id":155,"date":"2008-12-06T16:08:53","date_gmt":"2008-12-06T20:08:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/Correspondence\/?p=155"},"modified":"2008-12-06T16:08:53","modified_gmt":"2008-12-06T20:08:53","slug":"the-true-fast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/155\/the-true-fast\/","title":{"rendered":"The True Fast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hello John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I want to tell about something I have been thinking about since last weekend.\u00a0 One morning this past week I wanted to read something before I went to work.\u00a0 Isaiah 58 came to mind.\u00a0 So, I started reading about the true fast and continued reading through chapter 61.\u00a0 The words from those chapters seemed so sweet to me even though I couldn\u2019t understand half of what I was reading.\u00a0 It was as if Jesus was applying a soothing salve to my soul with the words.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">After I finished reading I wanted to take some CDs with me to listen to.\u00a0 I opened the cabinet where they are kept and right in the front of the stack were three CDs titled \u201cThe True Fast\u201d 1998.\u00a0 Needless to say, I chose those to listen to.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">There have been so many emails this week from the saints testifying how Jesus healed them from various things and also how the internet is being used to reach so many people around the world with the truth.\u00a0 In that light, these words from Isaiah 58 really stand out to me.\u00a0 <em>Is not this the fast that I have chosen?\u00a0 To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house?&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It goes on to say that God promises many blessing to those who fast this way.\u00a0 One promise that seemed to get my attention at the time was in vs 8.\u00a0 <em>Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">and thine health shall spring forth speedily&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">So much effort is being made by you and others to get the truth out to God\u2019s people.\u00a0 Why shouldn\u2019t we expect the promises of God to fall upon us?\u00a0 I pray that we can remain humble and ready to receive whatever He chooses to give us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Tom<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello John, I want to tell about something I have been thinking about since last weekend.\u00a0 One morning this past week I wanted to read something before I went to work.\u00a0 Isaiah 58 came to mind.\u00a0 So, I started reading about the true fast and continued reading through chapter 61.\u00a0 The words from those chapters [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-155","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-netmail"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=155"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=155"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=155"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=155"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
