{"id":1572,"date":"2010-12-17T14:47:30","date_gmt":"2010-12-17T14:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=1572"},"modified":"2010-12-17T14:47:30","modified_gmt":"2010-12-17T14:47:30","slug":"sin-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/1572\/sin-is\/","title":{"rendered":"Sin is&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hi John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I was reading in 1John this morning, and when I came across 1Jn. 3:4, the Lord gave me a clearer understanding of what this verse is really saying. \u201cWhoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.\u201d As I read this, the following verse immediately came to mind: \u201c\u2026I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Whenever I had read 1Jn. 3:4 in the past, I had always thought of it as transgression of the Old Testament law of Moses, but it\u2019s much more than that! It\u2019s simple: If you knowingly go against what the Spirit is saying to you in your heart to do, you have \u201ctransgressed the law\u201d, and therefore have sinned. You don\u2019t have to wonder what sin is, and you don\u2019t even have to go look it up to find out!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In my heart I knew that this was true, but without the Spirit showing you what something really means, it would be easy to get in the flesh and read a verse like this and say to yourself, \u201cwell, I can\u2019t find anything written specifically in the Bible about doing such-and-such, so it must be ok.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Seems like a small thing I suppose, but little bits &amp; pieces of understanding like this are wonderful to me!
