Hey Pastor John!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I had a question about something in Ezekiel chapter 28.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Who was the other cherub next to the mercy seat?\u00a0\u00a0There was Satan,\u00a0but do we know who the other one is?\u00a0\u00a0I was thinking it might have been Jesus, but I remember you saying God had hidden Jesus from everyone,\u00a0including cherubim,\u00a0so I thought it couldn’t have been him.\u00a0\u00a0I had just been thinking about it and thought I should go ahead and ask \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0That is a good question, and I am glad that you are thinking about such things!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In Ezekiel 28, Satan is described as\u00a0“the epitome of symmetry,\u00a0full of wisdom and perfect in beauty”; he is said to have been both in Eden and “on the holy mountain of God” (i.e., in heaven); and he is called\u00a0“the anointed cherub\u00a0who covers”, which I assume refers to covering the mercy seat.\u00a0 As you noted, Satan covered the mercy seat along with one other cherub (there may have been three others, based on the Most Holy Place in Solomon’s temple).<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We are told nothing about the other cherub that stood over the mercy seat, opposite Satan.\u00a0 It could have been the hidden Son of God even though he would have been seen by others in heaven.\u00a0 God determines whether or not anyone knows what it is he is looking at, and He was keeping His Son a secret at that time.\u00a0 However, we are not told that the other cherub was the Son, and so, we can only guess about that.\u00a0 But I do not recommend doing that.\u00a0 People get fiesty sometimes over ideas, and I don’t want us to fall into that trap.\u00a0 Let’s just be satisfied to say, “I don’t know.”\u00a0 We will find out after Jesus comes the answers to many of\u00a0our\u00a0questions..<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
