My friend understands, and isn\u2019t against not being a Christian, but trying to explain that the Bible was influenced by Christian translation is difficult to get a mind to comprehend. I told him how you&amp; others in our group have translated the Bible as directly from the Hebrew language, and not influenced by anything, as possible (<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/goingtojesus.com\/gtj_translation.html\">Going to Jesus.com &#8211; Bible Translations<\/a><\/span>). And I\u00a0explained how Christianity puts burdens on people and that I don\u2019t believe or live by that\u2026 so he knows that part and understands, I think.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In particular, the question was why would the Bible be so hard and down to the point on something such as not mixing particular cloths together? And why would it even matter about clothing materials?\u00a0(I know this doesn\u2019t apply nowadays)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deuteronomy 22<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You shall not wear material\u00a0<em>made of wool <\/em>and linen together.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Leviticus 19<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"19\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You shall keep my statutes. You shall not cause two kinds of your beasts to mate; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; nor shall clothing of two kinds of material be put on you.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I know the point of any conversation isn\u2019t to tear the Bible apart.\u00a0 I just didn\u2019t know the answer to the question\u2026 but said I would ask my pastor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My friend was raised in the Hindu religion, but isn\u2019t sure what to believe anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Right now, his point is we all believe in an almighty being, just that the conduit to get there may be different depending on the religion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The best I can do is tell him my testimonies and experiences in Jesus!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Julie A.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">=========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Hi Julie.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Of course it makes no difference to God what materials are used in clothing or what seed is planted in the field.\u00a0 That has never meant anything to Him.\u00a0 But what has always mattered to Him is the condition of His people&#8217;s hearts, and He knows that the way we do things affects our hearts.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>God very much wanted Israel to remain pure, untainted by heathen ways, so that His Son would come to a pure and holy nation when he came.\u00a0 And God knew that if Israel got into\u00a0the\u00a0mindset of blending one thing, it would lead to another.\u00a0 The cross-breeding of animals, for example, would have an influence on them and make intermarriage with Gentiles seem less offensive.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>There are a number of commandments, such as the prohibition of pork meat, that in themselves, meant nothing to God.\u00a0 However, they must have meant something at the time to the nations around Israel, for Moses told them, &#8220;Behold, I have taught\u00a0you statutes and judgments, as Jehovah my God commanded me, to do in the land which\u00a0you are entering to possess.\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0you shall keep them and do them, for\u00a0<strong>that will be\u00a0your wisdom and\u00a0your understanding in the eyes of the nations which hear all these statutes.\u00a0\u00a0And they will say, \u2018Surely, this great nation is a wise and understanding people!\u2019\u00a0(Dt 4:5\u20136).<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>I hope that helps.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good evening!
