And the Pharisees came up to him, tempting him, and saying to him, \u201cIs it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>4. But he answered and said to them, \u201cHaven\u2019t you read that He who made them in the beginning \u2018made them male and female\u2019?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>5. And then He said, \u2018For this reason shall a man forsake his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one body.&#8217;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>6. Therefore, they are no longer two, but one body.\u00a0 So then, what God has joined together, let not man separate.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>7. They said to him, \u201cWhy, then, did Moses command the husband to give her a certificate of separation, and divorce her?\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>8. He said to them, \u201cMoses allowed you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts, but in the beginning, it wasn\u2019t like that.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>9.
