It\u2019s probably correct, but I am thinking more on the order of slander. Perhaps it\u2019s because of how the word gossip is used today\u2019s\u00a0society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"gmaildefault\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">1:<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">29. being filled with all unrighteousness: fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, and full of envy, murder, strife, treachery, ungodliness.\u00a0<i>They became\u00a0<\/i>gossipers,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Just a thought,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wendell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">==========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Hi Wendell,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>I understand how you are thinking about it.\u00a0 I looked up the word again, and here are the only two options for translation of that word that Mounce&#8217;s Greek dictionary gives us: &#8220;a whisperer, gossip&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0So, given those choices, we went with &#8220;gossipers&#8221;.\u00a0 Also, this is the only verse in the New Testament where that particular word is used.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Thank you for the observation.\u00a0 We can go into more depth about it during our next translation session if you would like.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Pastor John<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pastor John, Good Afternoon, I was just reading thru Romans again and in comparison to other traits discussed in this verse \u201cgossipers\u201d\u00a0here sounds too soft to me.
