A MONK has been detained at a Greek airport after the skeletal remains of a nun were allegedly found in his baggage.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Security staff discovered a skull wrapped in cloth and skeletal remains in a sheet inside the 56-year-old Cypriot’s bag, Reuters reports.<\/span>
\n The monk said he was transferring her remains to a monastery in Cyprus and insisted she was a saint.<\/span>
\n The nun died four years ago and had attended a Cypriot convent, but was not officially recognised as a saint.<\/span>
\n “It appears to be the work of charlatans with a financial interest that is what I suspect,” Cyprus’s Archbishop Chrysostomos said.<\/span>
\n The skeletons of saints are worshipped in the Greek Orthodox tradition.<\/span>
\n The monk was released and has been charged with theft and desecrating the dead.”<\/span>
\n He has also been suspended from monastic duties for three months.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This special kind of madness is not new. It has been going on for well over a thousand years, now. The fraudulent sale of stolen body parts as “relics” of genuine church saints was a booming business at one point in Christian history, and has been a continuing problem. I am surprised that it is still going on, but not greatly surprised.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, we know that even if that skull which this monk planned to peddle was really the skull of an officially recognized church saint, it would be worthless, “but there is not in every man that knowledge”. The charlatans are Christianity’s leaders who long ago set the stage for such fraud to exist, as well as the leaders who are perpetuating that superstition as the gospel of Christ.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I humbly thank God for saving us from that religion, and I pray that He will do the same for others everywhere who are seeking Him with their whole heart. I believe He will.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
