John,<\/span><\/p>\n

I love it when Jesus uses everyday things to teach us, or remind us, of simple truths about life.\u00a0\u00a0Amy and I went for a bike ride the other evening, and at one point she rode off the sidewalk, and had a little bit of trouble getting back on to the sidewalk.\u00a0Later I shared with her a tip that I learned during my motorcycle riding days about how to avoid obstacles in the road.\u00a0\u00a0I told her that if there is something in the road that you want to avoid, look at a different point in the road, and you will naturally go towards the point you are looking at (instead of the obstacle).<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus brought this conversation back to mind last night as I was out walking.\u00a0\u00a0He let me know that it is the same way in life.\u00a0Whatever, or whoever you have your mind on \u2013 whatever you are \u201clooking\u201d at \u2013\u00a0\u00a0is going to affect your actions, whether good or bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

This made me think of a couple of scriptures related to that:<\/span><\/p>\n

For they that are after the flesh do\u00a0mind\u00a0the\u00a0things\u00a0of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the\u00a0things\u00a0of the Spirit.” (Rm. 8:5)<\/span><\/p>\n

Thou wilt keep\u00a0him<\/i>\u00a0in perfect peace,\u00a0whose<\/i>\u00a0mind\u00a0is<\/i>\u00a0stayed\u00a0on thee<\/i>: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isa. 26:3)<\/span><\/p>\n

Set your\u00a0affection\u00a0on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Col. 3:2)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love this Vince!<\/span><\/p>\n

Reminds me of what the Lord gave me…”write your hurts in the sand; write your blessings in stone”<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaning that we are to let go of (don’t dwell on) our hurts by writing him in sand and then they will wash away, but our blessings we are to look at, hold on by writing them in stone where they are permanently fixed before us, so we can keep our minds on those good blessings the Lord has given us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reminds me of the scripture Phil 4:8 —<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
