{"id":3670,"date":"2013-11-16T22:30:04","date_gmt":"2013-11-16T22:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=3670"},"modified":"2013-11-16T22:30:04","modified_gmt":"2013-11-16T22:30:04","slug":"prophecy-of-baptism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/3670\/prophecy-of-baptism\/","title":{"rendered":"Prophecy of Baptism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hi John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Amy and I were reading in John 1 tonight, and we were talking about John the baptist&#8217;s conversation with the Pharisees. \u00a0They assumed that John was the Christ because he was baptizing people (Jn.\u00a01:25). \u00a0I was trying to remember, where is it prophesied that Christ would baptize?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Vince<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">================<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Hi Vince!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">I used to ask the same question. \u00a0It is a reasonable question to ask, and here is the answer that the Lord gave me.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">The word, &#8220;baptism&#8221; is nowhere in the Old Testament. \u00a0The only place in the OT that suggests that the Messiah would do what we call &#8220;baptize&#8221; people is from Deuteronomy. \u00a0There , Moses prophesied that God would one day &#8220;raise up a prophet like me&#8221;. \u00a0Moses was the only person in history (before John the baptist) to ceremonially wash people. \u00a0He washed Aaron and his sons, which began the Levitical priesthood for Israel.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">So, when John came preaching and baptizing in water, the Jews who knew the scriptures recognized John&#8217;s unique ministry, and wondered if he was the Messiah.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">\u00a0Thanks for the question.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">jdc<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi John, Amy and I were reading in John 1 tonight, and we were talking about John the baptist&#8217;s conversation with the Pharisees. \u00a0They assumed that John was the Christ because he was baptizing people (Jn.\u00a01:25). \u00a0I was trying to remember, where is it prophesied that Christ would baptize?
