{"id":4852,"date":"2014-09-23T15:23:55","date_gmt":"2014-09-23T15:23:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=4852"},"modified":"2014-09-23T15:23:55","modified_gmt":"2014-09-23T15:23:55","slug":"contemplating-pauls-rebuke-of-peter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/4852\/contemplating-pauls-rebuke-of-peter\/","title":{"rendered":"Contemplating Paul&#8217;s Rebuke of Peter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u200bConsidering how Jesus spoke to the Syro-Phoenician woman in Matthew 15, and Peter&#8217;s attitude toward Gentiles in Galatians 2, and even some comments Paul made, it makes me wonder how many Jews ever accepted the \u200bbelieving \u200b Gentles as real brothers and sisters \u200b in Christ\u200b. For Peter, \u200beven\u200b after being told by God, &#8220;What I have cleansed \u200bcall not \u200b thou common or unclean \u200b&#8221;, \u200bfor him to still have so much fear of the Jews \u200b seeing him sit and eat with Gentiles \u200b (Gal. 2)\u200b, it stands to reason there must have been conversations among the Jews \u200b concerning Gentles being second class \u200b members of the body of Christ\u200b. \u200b \u200b Thank God \u200bthat He found a man who didn&#8217;t trust anything contrary to what he had been given by him! \u200b \u200b Paul really had to stand alone. \u200b \u200bIt amazes me, \u200b Paul&#8217;s spiritual strength.\u00a0 V\u200bery few in this world develop this kind of steadfastness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In thinking about this scene and noticing not many men in this life seem to have the strength to stick with what God had given them, \u200bI think about \u200b your \u200bf\u200bather\u200b, &#8220;Preacher Clark&#8221;. He was an example \u200bof one \u200bwho was successful, and we \u200b\u200b still reap the benefits of his strength,\u200b given from God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">If I hadn&#8217;t found you,\u200b I am doubtful I would been able to hold on to what the Lord told me when I asked him about the divisions \u200bamong God&#8217;s People. \u200b \u200b He told me &#8220;Doctrines and Commandments of Men&#8221; was the reason. \u200b \u200bOh, God!\u00a0 Sweet, direct and short answers are so precious, and at that moment in my life\u200b,\u200b breath\u200b-\u200btaking.\u00a0 If I hadn&#8217;t met you\u200b,\u200b would I have heard and understood \u200bwhat was recorded in the \u200bMinutes \u200bof the 1974 Church of God International convocation in Dallas: &#8220;Touch not the unclean thing&#8221;?\u200b \u200b \u200bThat understanding\u00a0 still excites my soul to this day.\u00a0 I have no idea how I \u200bcould have\u00a0 the point \u200bwithout help from God\u200b. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Those two experiences connected together, along with hearing you say\u200b,\u200b &#8221; \u200bThey \u200b[Christian sects] \u200b are all wrong&#8221; (my spirit jumped up and down,\u200b saying, &#8220;Yes\u200b!&#8221;\u200b) were instrumental in my leaving Christianity\u200b,\u200b although at the time I didn&#8217;t know to call it by that name. \u200b \u200bI hope my action in leaving that abomination will count for something in the end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Thinking about what happened to Peter falling victim to the pressure around him \u200bin Galatians 2 \u200b makes me pray, &#8220;Please keep me\u200b, God,\u200b from anything that opposes \u200byour spirit!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">There is no hope of doing what is correct without help from Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">God help us!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Wendell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John, \u200bConsidering how Jesus spoke to the Syro-Phoenician woman in Matthew 15, and Peter&#8217;s attitude toward Gentiles in Galatians 2, and even some comments Paul made, it makes me wonder how many Jews ever accepted the \u200bbelieving \u200b Gentles as real brothers and sisters \u200b in Christ\u200b.
