{"id":5037,"date":"2014-11-16T19:44:46","date_gmt":"2014-11-16T19:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=5037"},"modified":"2014-11-16T19:44:46","modified_gmt":"2014-11-16T19:44:46","slug":"preacher-clarks-sermon-1947","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/5037\/preacher-clarks-sermon-1947\/","title":{"rendered":"Preacher Clark&#8217;s Sermon, 1947"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Bro John:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I ran across this email of a sermon your father preached from 1947 when he was going through \u200ba time of \u200bpersecution\u200b,\u200b and there was division among the body.\u00a0 There is such authority and strength in his words, and his confidence in God is amazing\u200b,\u200b considering all he endured.\u00a0 The first part of his sermon, which is not included here, addressed the issue of the union that God had \u200bcreated between your mother and him.\u00a0 But as you said in the story, <em>&#8220;His nature was not to be on the defensive when he knew that God had done something for him, and so, as usual, he went on the offensive with the knowledge of an experience he knew his opponents simply did not understand.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"color:#000000;\">From George C. Clark, Pioneer of the Faith stories:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>&#8220;What have you done to put you where you are? . . . What effect has your stand taken on you?\u00a0 Do you love everyone better?\u00a0 Are you humbler?\u00a0 Has your tongue been made tamer?\u00a0 Are you happier?\u00a0 Or are you more miserable than ever before?\u00a0 Has the grumbling spirit taken hold on you so you can&#8217;t be satisfied?\u00a0 Has your patience been destroyed?\u00a0 Where are you?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><em><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Is your God keeping you happy? (There may be many gods).\u00a0 How do we feel now?\u00a0 Are we calm?\u00a0 Are we feeling so peaceful that everyone feels freedom in our presence?\u00a0 Or are we nervous?\u00a0 Are our faces covered with hatred, condemnation for the other fellow, or sadness that keeps us from perfect peace?\u00a0 Would we be satisfied to live forever just like this?\u00a0 Is this the fruits of the Spirit of God?
