{"id":5929,"date":"2015-06-14T21:30:50","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T21:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=5929"},"modified":"2015-06-14T21:30:50","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T21:30:50","slug":"malachi-45-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/5929\/malachi-45-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Malachi 4:5 &amp; 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hi John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I was reading in Malachi this morning and ran across the two verses below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">What is verse 6 saying?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">How will hearts be turned?\u00a0 Is he referring to Elijah from verse 5, or is it the Lord? <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Malachi 4:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">5.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">6.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Tom\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">============<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Hi Tom,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>We can see many benefits to what God says He will send Elijah to do.\u00a0 Primarily, what God is promising is that He will heal relationships and re-establish the order \u200bamong us that He intended in the beginning.\u00a0 When elders\u00a0\u00a0(&#8220;the fathers&#8221;) are in God&#8217;s order, they have a kindly and nurturing attitude toward those in their care.\u00a0 At the same time, when those who are being cared for (&#8220;the children&#8221;) are in God&#8217;s order, they view their forebears with respect, which is contrary to the way a proud generation thinks, as Solomon&#8217;s friend Agur observed:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Proverbs 30<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u200b11.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> \u200b12. \u00a0\u200b<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> \u200b13. \u00a0\u200b<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>What else God may have had in\u00a0mind when He promised to send Elijah with the blessing of good\u00a0order in the home, I cannot say.\u00a0 But I will say that the blessings that come from God&#8217;s order \u200bare many, and to be in God&#8217;s order is something we pray for, so that we will be a blessing on the earth<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>\u200bPastor John\u200b<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi John, I was reading in Malachi this morning and ran across the two verses below.
