{"id":5943,"date":"2015-06-14T01:08:50","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T01:08:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=5943"},"modified":"2015-06-14T01:08:50","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T01:08:50","slug":"hebrews-214-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/5943\/hebrews-214-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Hebrews 2:14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hope you are enjoying the beach!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I have a question about Hebrews 2:14.\u00a0 &#8220;Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> Why does it state the devil has power over death?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> Beth<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u200b===========<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Hi Beth,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Until Moses and the law, Satan had power \u200bover this world of death, and everybody was subject to him because everyone was subject to death.\u00a0 But this is what Jesus said, in John 11:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">&#8220;25.\u00a0 I am the resurrection and the life.\u00a0 He who believes in me will live even if he dies, <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">26.\u00a0 and everyone who lives and believes in me will never, ever die.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">These bodies are still subject to death, and the world can persecute and kill these earthly vessels.\u00a0 But we are not subject to death.\u00a0 We have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God&#8217;s Son, where there is no death, and Satan has no more power over us.\u00a0 Satan is still the god of this world, because &#8220;the whole world lies in wickedness&#8221;, but Jesus said, &#8220;You are not of the world; I have called you out of the world.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Live, Beth, as happy and as free as Jesus has made you!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Pastor John<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pastor John, Hope you are enjoying the beach!
