{"id":6012,"date":"2015-06-27T17:27:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T17:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=6012"},"modified":"2015-06-27T17:27:00","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T17:27:00","slug":"true-humility-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/6012\/true-humility-2\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;True Humility&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">We are blessed to hear these things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I remember what God told Moses about Israel at the mount, and they were terrified at his coming down on the mountain&#8230;.\u00a0that He wished they would always fear Him like they did there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The true\u00a0fear of God will bring true humility &#8211; when we are only concerned with what God thinks, above all else.\u00a0What I love about that is that, is that\u00a0even the most uneducated, simple minded, non-talented (as far as this world goes), newest\u00a0believer can qualify to do and feel that, and to be blessed of God for it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s for all who will. No experience necessary!\u00a0 Just experience with God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Gary<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;padding-left:30px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><i><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">\u201cMy thoughts are not your thoughts, <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">and your ways are not my ways,\u201d says the Lord.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">\u201cFor as the heavens are higher than the earth,<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">so are my ways higher than your ways,<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">and my thoughts than your thoughts.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:medium;\">Isaiah 55:8\u20139<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Being humble before God includes humbling ourselves to labor because to labor was God\u2019s original curse on humans for their sin.\u00a0 What this means is, a lazy man is a rebel against God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Being humble before God also includes humility in the face of natural disasters, disappointments, and inconveniences because they are just more of God\u2019s ordained consequences for our sin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Being humble also means standing up for the right, even if few others have the courage to do so.\u00a0 Moses was the humblest man on earth, according to the Bible (Num. 12:3), and yet he stood fast with God and the truth through some very perilous situations, even daring to smash the people\u2019s beloved golden calf to very tiny bits \u2013 and then making them drink it!\u00a0 Jesus was even meeker than Moses, but he became furious when he saw his Father\u2019s house being used by men to make money, and he overturned their tables and drove them out of the temple (Jn.\u00a02:13\u201317).\u00a0 Jesus once said, \u201cI am meek and lowly\u201d; at the same time, he always \u201ccalled a spade a spade\u201d, and he would boldly stand up for the helpless against the powerful who were abusing them (e.g., the hapless woman caught in adultery).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Men can appear to be humble by making a show of their humility.\u00a0\u00a0But be careful.\u00a0\u00a0Before judging someone to be humble, let us pause to consider what God thinks humility is.\u00a0\u00a0His thoughts are not our thoughts, and He is not fooled by appearances, as we so often have been.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are blessed to hear these things.
