{"id":6154,"date":"2015-08-14T00:28:44","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T00:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=6154"},"modified":"2015-08-14T00:28:44","modified_gmt":"2015-08-14T00:28:44","slug":"the-incense-altar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/6154\/the-incense-altar\/","title":{"rendered":"The Incense Altar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hi Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Am I reading this right, that the incense altar was in the Most Holy place?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Hebrews 9 (your translation.)<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Then, behind the second veil, was the tabernacle called the Holy of Holies,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#000000;\">having the golden incense altar, and the ark of the covenant, completely covered with gold and in which was the golden pot containing manna, Aaron\u2019s rod that budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:#000000;\">and above which, overshadowing the mercy seat, were the cherubim of glory \u2014 of which things there is not now time to speak in detail.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I believed and thought I read in the O.T., where the incense altar was in the holy place before the veil, and not\u00a0 in the Most Holy Place???<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Thanks,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Billy<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">===============<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Hi Billy,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Yes, you are reading that rightly, but notice that the author of Hebrews does not actually say that the incense altar was\u00a0inside\u00a0the veil; he only says that (1) the Most Holy itself was \u201cbehind\u201d the second veil and that (2) the Most Holy \u201chad\u201d certain things, including the incense altar.\u00a0 In other words, as I read it, the incense altar properly belonged to the Most Holy room; however, if God had placed the incense altar inside the Most Holy, the priests could not have burned incense on it every day as God demanded.\u00a0 So, He commanded Moses to place it just outside the Most Holy, in front of the veil.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Pastor John<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Pastor John, Am I reading this right, that the incense altar was in the Most Holy place?
