{"id":6566,"date":"2016-01-09T19:54:51","date_gmt":"2016-01-09T19:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pjhmail.wordpress.com\/?p=6566"},"modified":"2016-01-09T19:54:51","modified_gmt":"2016-01-09T19:54:51","slug":"submitting-to-gods-righteousness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pastorjohnshouse.com\/mailbag\/6566\/submitting-to-gods-righteousness\/","title":{"rendered":"Submitting to God&#8217;s Righteousness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Pastor John,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">When you came out to visit Patty and Margaret and me last September, and we sat in Patty\u2019s living room, talking, I brought up that verse from Romans 10:9, and how valuable your teaching has been about it. \u00a0I\u2019ve always been blessed, powerfully, by that truth\u2026it just amazes me how Christians misunderstand that. . .and in<span> tonight\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0meeting it was TEN times stronger!!!! \u00a0It just keeps getting better all the time\u2026deeper, richer, clearer, sweeter\u2026sweeter and sweeter and sweeter as the days go by\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">(But I have one question that makes me stumble: \u00a0When you say &#8220;we just need to submit to the righteousness of God\u201d, what does that\u00a0<em>mean<\/em>? \u00a0What does submitting to the righteousness of God look like? \u00a0How does one\u00a0<em>do <\/em>that, in each and every situation? \u00a0Is it another way of saying &#8220;get over yourself!\u201d? \u00a0Please try to explain for my little brain.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Brad<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">=============<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Hi, Brad.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>&#8220;Submitting to the righteousness of God&#8221; is Paul&#8217;s phrase, as you saw in Romans 10 tonight. By that Paul meant submitting to and following the Spirit of God instead of following the doctrines and traditions. \u00a0For the time Paul wrote that letter, he was referring specifically to submitting to the Spirit instead of trusting in the rites and rules of Moses&#8217; law to make one righteous.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><em>Thanks for the question.
