Hi Pastor John,
Anna and I really enjoyed your teaching on Marriage and Divorce. The Q&A session on the marriage and divorce issue was wonderful. The part that stuck out the most to me was the part about a believing spouse being married to an unbelieving spouse; it reminded me of what happened to Anna and myself.
When God started calling Anna to Him she asked me to go with her to a gathering and I did -- reluctantly, not really wanting to go. After the gathering was over, I went out to the car and waited on Anna to come out. When she did, I told her, “Don’t ever ask me to come back here again.” And she said, “ok”. But she herself kept coming, and in about four months, she received the baptism of the holy Ghost.
I did not really know what happened to her at that time, but I started to notice how different she was and how she handled herself around the house and at work (we work for the same company), and by her conversation, it started convicting my heart. And by "conversation", I mean the way she conducted herself. She never beat me over the head with the Bible, and she did not talk about God all the time to me and tell me I have to get right with God.
Last night, when you read in 1Corinthians 7:14-15, concerning how the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the believing wife, or the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the believing husband, that is exactly what happened in our case. Anna’s conduct and how she walked in the Lord brought me to sanctification because I was pleased to dwell with her, and by being pleased to dwell with her, it led me to receive the Holy Ghost about four months after she did.
And now our relationship with one another has been made so sweet by being led by the same spirit that led us both to him. And I thank God that my wife conducted herself the way she did toward me, she was a very good example of a wife following the will of God toward her husband.
God’s people need to hear these things. It will save them from a lot of heartache and trouble if they can take it in. Thank you for making this available for us all. I wish I could have been there in person to give my testimony last night.
