  • “Leasing”?

    Hi John,

    Can you explain what “leasing” means as it is written in Psalms 5:6
    “Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing.”

    Thank you!

    Patty

    ============

    Hi Patty!

    The word “leasing” is an archaic word for “lie”.  God will destroy liars.  That is what David is saying.

  • Jesus’ Nature

    Pastor John,

    I’m reading some good material by you concerning the Blood, and The Father & The Son, but I have a question.

    Do you think Jesus had a sin nature? Because if he was in the Flesh (which he was) without a sin nature then he could have lived forever, I suppose?  I know that he could’ve sinned.  That’s not the question.  I hope you understand what I’m trying to ask.

    By the way, you are hilarious!  Tonight was great!!  Oh shucks.  Ha.

    John C.

    ===========

    Hi John.

    If Jesus had a human nature, then yes, he had a sinful nature.  At the same time, by the Spirit, he was a partaker of the nature of God.

    I am glad you are able to watch the meetings and that you are enjoying them.  We are blessed!

  • George C. Clark Question

    Hi Pastor John,

    I’ve been reading the George C. Clark story again and just finished the story of Sister Pyver and the dream your dad had of the grinding stone. The building into which the polished stones were being placed by the angel represented those who were “established in Christ”.  How do you know when you have become established in Christ?

    Michelle

    ===========

    Hi Michelle,

    I imagine there are many ways the Lord lets a person know he is established. Sister May B. in Louisville, now with the Lord, told me of being established when my father laid hands on her in about 1935.  She was on her thirties then, and lived until she was very old, steady and grounded in Christ the whole time.  Sister Briley was established in her old age, in large part, by reading the manuscript of my book, Suffering and the Saints before it was published. After she was established (unknown to me), I went to visit her, and when I walked in her front door, I felt something I had never felt around her.  She was lying in bed, very feeble, but the glory of God filled her home so much you could feel it before you saw her!

    I am sure others have their own testimonies, but the only sure thing about being established is this:  There are many more whom think and claim they are established in Christ than there are who have experienced the work of God in their souls that truly established them.

  • It Went Bad Quickly

    Pastor John,

    Is it possible the Vatican made these 1st century letters up, and we don’t know what happened? Just can’t believe it went that far away by end of 1st century – but then, look at our time!

    ============

    Yes, John, it went bad quickly.  In fact, it had gone bad even before the apostles died.  Paul told Timothy that all the saints in the Roman province of Asia had forsaken him, and John mentioned one church leader who refused to receive him or anyone associated with him.

    It’s been bad ever since, and “few there be” who find the way taught of the Spirit and truth that Jesus revealed to Paul.

    ============

    I guess the Jerusalem Church fell away completely after AD70?  What do you think about Josephus?

    ============

    Josephus cannot be trusted. He was self-serving and ignorant of his own scriptures.  Take nothing he wrote at face value.

    ============

    I was very disturbed by some of the things I read from Josephus… It’s almost like reading a Dakes Bible!! Thanx… Some are using Josephus to rip apart the doctrine of Christ for some reason. Saying he was hired by Rome to start Christianity basically!

    John C.

    ============

    Josephus wasn’t that bad!  He was just rotten.

    The one who started Christianity is one who had beheld the face of God and been cast out of heaven.  Josephus can’t hold a candle to that fallen creature.

  • Hiding the Truth

    Pastor John.

    It’s interesting that u mention Imitating tongues because that subject has been on my mind since the meeting on Sunday because of something u said. I thought u said ( And correct me if I’m wrong ) that a person can receive the Spirit without hearing anything whatsoever about the Gospel?? I certainly believe that Gods ways are not our ways & he can do anything that he wants to do!! And I don’t believe that he is bound to any doctrine etc… But having said that?? I know what the Apostles as well as Jesus taught concerning receiving the Spirit by hearing the Gospel & believing it. I don’t think a person can or has to know anything much but at least hear the name Jesus. Otherwise, it could be another spirit they are receiving?? I just wanted to ask u that because maybe I misunderstood.

    ===========

    Yes, you misunderstood me.  Without hearing the gospel of the Son of God, it is impossible to receive the Spirit because the Spirit comes only in the name of Jesus.  What I said was that people (who have believed in Jesus) can receive the baptism of the Spirit without being taught about it.  That’s all.  Many a non-“pentecostal” has received the holy ghost baptism without being told to expect it.  God honors sincere faith in his Son!

    ===========

    Something else I wanna ask on same subject. Is it possible that Tongues or the truth concerning our initial conversion was purposely hidden by God for the sake of the Elect?? This scripture comes to mind: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”                                                                                                                                                                                                                           2 Corinthians 4:3 KJV

    Why would that be?? This scripture comes to mind: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”
    John 10:27 KJV

    It comes back around to “Imitating the Spirit”!! If the scripture said “Everyone that Speaks in Tongues” is Saved then “Everyone would be Speaking in Tongues”. Or Imitating it!! It wouldn’t be Legit… Case in point: Faith!! Everyone says “You are Saved by Faith”, but they Can’t See the Truth!! The Bible is a stumbling block for everyone accept His Elect!!

    John C.

    ===========

    Excellent point, John!  That is exactly what would have happened.  I am glad that God has hidden the truth “from the wise and the prudent” and has “revealed it unto babes”!

  • Imitating Speaking in Tongues

    Pastor, Hi.

    Is it possible that u only mimicked tongues as a child?  Thank u.

    Jeff

    ==========

    Hi Jeff,

    I do not know if your question means did I, personally, mimic speaking in tongues as a toddler, or if you are asking about children in general who are around Pentecostal meetings.  As for me, I wouldn’t remember if I did that or not, since I assume you are talking about children of a very early age, but I may have done so, and that would have been perfectly normal.  All children imitate their parents’ behavior, to some extent.  I remember at least two of my four children imitating speaking in tongues when they were small, and over the years, I have seen other children do that.  It is sweet to see it.

    So, the answer your question is, yes, it is possible.

  • Why I Want to Work

    Pastor John,

    Friday afternoon, I was thinking about the tract room being open for us to come help prepare mailings, and I wanted to go.  I was looking forward to seeing everyone.  But I asked myself this question, “Why are you going to the tract room tonight?”  I then thought about what Michelle H. testified to the other night.  She said that before she found the truth, she, having the holy Ghost, sat under a Pastor, a doctrine, and elders in that doctrine, who made an evening out of delivering a sermon about the necessity of longer sleeves on women.   I knew that that was my answer.  That was why I was going to the tract room to work – because of my brothers and sisters in Christ who are  sitting under those oppressive misunderstandings.

    I want to please God.  And the Truth, which is plainly spoken in those tracts, is my outlet to do so.  A vital part of that Truth is that a child of God can hear from their Creator everyday, so as to be guided into pleasing Him.  If I didn’t have Truth guiding my worship and obedience, something would have to fill its place.  My desire for God would make me find an outlet.  Some of God’s children are past the ceremonies, so the only thing left after that is an oppressed lifestyle, outlined by a set of man-made rules like the ones that Sister Michelle used to live under, regarding carnal things. I would imagine that when oppression of yourself becomes the only outlet that you have to serve God, a faithful child of God would equate more oppression with a closer walk.

    That makes me want to work in the tract room.

    You recently talked about the man who led his family in long prayer on the floor before every meal, and the Truth, through your father Preacher Clark, rescued them.  The anointing broke their yoke.  And knowledge of the Truth would keep them from ever getting under another one.  That makes me want to work in the tract room.  A saint could read one of those tracts, like Gary and Song, and it can change their life forever.

  • Amazing Grace

    Pastor John,

    I have written before about how much I love the song Amazing Grace.

    I have always felt Jesus when I hear that song. It is my story. The other day I was singing that song, and the lyrics struck me for the first time. The verse: “Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound”. To say Grace has a sound! The writer knew Grace had a sound.  The other verse “how precious did that Grace APPEAR the hour I first believed.” I have never noticed this before. Grace has a sound and a look. I feel like Jesus shared this with me. Just thought this was really great!

    Beth

    ==========

    That’s sweet, Beth. I think that the people who walk in the grace of God have that “sound” and that “look” about them, don’t you?

  • Mark 3:22-26

    Pastor John,

    We read from the Gospel of Mark this evening , and in there, I noticed the use of the names “Beelzebub”, “prince of demons”, and “Satan”,  and it stood out to me (Mark 3:22-26).

    (Originally, it stood out because in this scene it appeared that Jesus and the scribes were in agreement that Satan was evil. That just seemed to be a “given”, based on their dialogue.   I understood it to be that they were all in agreement that Beelzebub, the prince of demons, and Satan were all the same being.  So, I was going to ask you if the scribes having the knowledge of Satan being evil was possible , since Satan had not yet been revealed as evil.  But, as I put the email together, I noticed something new…new to me….and my question has changed)

    In this scene, the scribes are speaking evil of Jesus for doing good.  The scribes in Verse 22 had accused Jesus of working under the influence of, and also being possessed by, an evil creature that they called “Beelzebub” and the “prince of demons”.

    What the scribes did not do, is call that evil being Satan.  Only Jesus, in the next verse, went on to call this same creature Satan, when He said, “How can Satan cast out Satan?”

    My Question: Did the scribes know they were actually speaking of the Bible character Satan (the one that those scribes would have known from Chronicles, Job, Zechariah and Psalms), when they spoke of this evil being called Beelzebub and the prince of demons in V22 ?

    I am thinking, “no”, since Satan had not yet been revealed as evil.  Right?

    ===========

    That is right.  Nobody but Jesus knew Satan was evil because the Son was not yet revealed.

    ===========

    If any or all of what I have said is correct, would they (the scribes) have understood in the next verse (verse 23) that Jesus had just identified, perhaps for the very first time, that “the prince of demons” they had just referred to, was Satan from the scriptures, the same Satan that was God’s servant in the Old Testament scriptures.  Would they have understood what He just said to them, would they have cared?

    Thank you.

    Jerry

    ===========

    The scribes and other elders of Israel did not understand Jesus.  For that matter, not even Jesus’ disciples understood him.  Besides, even if the scribes had understood what Jesus was saying about Satan, they would not have trusted his judgment of that powerful heavenly creature.  The wicked nature of Satan’s character was a revelation to mankind, part of the revelation of the Son.  But nobody comprehended that revelation until after Pentecost, when humans received God’s kind of life, the only kind of life that enables humans to understand the things of God.

    Thanks for the question, Jerry.

    Pastor John
