  • Indulgences

    Good morning,

I have question. The way I’m understanding the sentences below is Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses in 1510 and that Johann Tetzel’s aggressive marketing practices of Pope Leo X’s offer of indulgences in 1517 provoked Martin Luther to write his 95 Theses. Pope Leo X’s offer was 7 years after Martin Luther had posted his 95 Theses. Is this a typo or is there some other explanation for the 7 year’s difference?

Look forward to watching this movie Saturday night.

    Randell

    Here is what you wrote:

Martin Luther posted his Ninety-five Theses, or criticisms of the Church on a church door in Wittenburg, Germany, in 1510. In 1517, Pope Leo X offered indulgences for those who gave money to help him rebuild St. Peter’s basilica in Rome. The aggressive marketing practices of Johann Tetzel in promoting this cause provoked Martin Luther to write his Ninety-five Theses, condemning what he saw as the purchase and sale of salvation.

    =====================

    Hi Randell.

I can see the problem with what I wrote. Thanks for pointing it out. Actually, after Tetzel began his bizarre method for marketing the Indulgences, in 1517, Luther read aloud his Ninety-five Theses to a group which included students of his. Those student then translated his Theses from Latin into into German, which quickly spread Luther’s message across Germany, and then all of Europe. Maybe I should edit what I wrote to read like this:

Martin Luther posted his Ninety-five Theses, or criticisms of the Church on a church door in Wittenburg, Germany, in 1510. In 1517, Pope Leo X offered indulgences for those who gave money to help him rebuild St. Peter’s basilica in Rome. The aggressive marketing practices of Johann Tetzel in promoting this cause provoked Martin Luther to publicize further his Ninety-five Theses, condemning what he saw as the purchase and sale of salvation, and his message then quickly spread across Europe.

    Hope that helps.

  • Web question

    http://www.goingtojesus.com/topic_antichrist.html

    Pastor John,

I was reading your post on “the Antichrist”. How can the antichrist (satan) be omnipotent and sit in people’s hearts?

    Dee
    ===============

Thank you for the question, Dee.

First, Satan cannot be omnipresent; only God can do that.

Secondly, Satan can be in human hearts just as Christ can; that is, in spirit. Anytime someone accepts Satan’s thoughts, that is to say, his doctrine, that person opens himself to Satan’s influence. Then, if he continues in that doctrine, he opens himself to greater influence from Satan. This “influence” comes through Satan’s spirit, and many have put themselves in position to have it in their hearts. Some people, though very few, even follow Satan’s suggestions as far as Judas did, to the point of being possessed by Satan himself.

Please beware what you open your heart to. Solomon said that the condition of our heart determines our future.

  • Watching

I just found a number of videos from your worship services, and I could just feel the presence of the Spirit amongst those singing and praying and speaking the word of the Lord. I’ve been struggling with my testimony recently and feeling a bit jaded and angry with the corporate nature of the modern church system, and your ministry was such a breath of fresh air and a reminder of the powerful nature of home-spun, spirit-led worship. It was truly wonderful to see, sent shivers down my spine and brought the Holy Ghost to me in my own home. You truly have the strength of the Lord about you and His angels ministering through you. It pains me to see that you operate out of North Carolina, if I weren’t on the other side of this great nation I would join you for worship. May God bless you and your ministry for all the work you do to bring glory to Christ’s holy name. Be blessed.

    Hi Kerry.

This is Pastor John. Thank you for your recent correspondence. I am grateful to God that you were blessed while watching our videos at PastorJohnsHouse.com. It thrills us whenever Jesus uses us to encourage one of our brothers or sisters anywhere.

It is difficult to persuade God’s people that He despises Church religion and that it pleases Him for them to worship Him outside that evil institution. Your worship at home is MORE acceptable to your heavenly Father than all the worship that is offered to Him as part of church services. That is why He is calling you and all His children to “Come out of her, My people!”

Listen to that sweet voice, Kerry. And if you ever visit the east coast, please do visit us.

  • Labor of Love

    Hi Pastor John,

I was riding to work this morning and I popped in the radio broadcast cd from our radio broadcast. As I was listening I started thinking about all the wonderful things we have at hand.

I thought about how much we have everywhere. We have cd’s all over my truc;, we have books; literature and cd’s all over our house; and we have information and web sites all over our computers. I have tracts in my desk drawers at work, and broadcasters and parts of the Father and The Son book. It is all around us, all the time, every day.

I also thought about these scriptures as I was taking it all in:

1Th 11. Wherefore, comfort one another and edify each other, just as you also do.
¶ 12. We beseech you, brothers, to acknowledge those who labor among you and who rule over you in the Lord and admonish you,
    13. and to esteem them as highly as possible in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

1 Ti 5: 17 Let elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in word and in doctrine.

I just wanted to say thank you for your labor in word and in the doctrine, and to everyone who labors to make these things possible, I know how much we all love Gods people and each other. What a joy it is to our hearts to be a part of such a wonderful family who comfort and edify each other as we walk along this road on our journey to our new home.

    Thank you again
    Stuart

  • I’ll give you more

    Hi Pastor John,

I have been feasting and pondering on all the wonderful gathering we have been having over the past couple of months. It is amazing to feel all the wonderful feeling that have been poured out on us lately. I want to be found worthy and doing my part to receive such wonderful blessing from our Father and his Son.

I was driving to work this morning and put in our July Songs CD that brother Earl and Sister Betty have been putting together each month and giving to everyone. What wonderful music we have! On track 2, brother Darren is singing, “I’ll Give You More”. I just had to write down the words because I want to make sure I understand what the Father is telling us through his Son by his spirit in all these songs that he is pouring out on us lately. Here are the words:

                          I’ll Give You More

    I made a promise that’s for everyone
If you will just worship and honor my son
Then I’ll give more blessing than you can receive
Yes, that is my promise, oh, do you believe

    Chorus
I’ll give you more of just what you need
I’ll give you more, you’ll not lack anything
More of my spirit, more of my Son
More understanding to make us all one
More of the good things this life has to give
    I’ll give you more

Where is that nation that stood rich and strong
They gave my Son honor bur now that is gone
Their riches have left them their power has too
All because of my promise, but it still stands true

    Chorus

When you are together and the spirit is free
You’re in the best place that you could be
When you love the feelings and the truth that you hear
When you love the brothers that I have put near

Pastor John, what an honor! When I heard Darren sing, “Where is that nation that stood rich and strong?” all I could do was fall on my face in spirit and pray, “God, let me value what you are doing for me and us! Let me stay humble and remember where everything I am has come from, and who has made it happen for us all. Don’t let me become proud of something that I could not even begin to do or have without you. My heart hurts and longs to know you and your Son!”

My my! My heart aches at the thought of not holding onto what He has done for us, and losing out on this wonderful life He has made available to us. The meetings this weekend were special. We want to be in a condition to receive all that He has for us when He opens the door like He did this past weekend for so many. There is nothing in this world worth losing what God has in store for his children who love and obey Him and follow His Spirit. My prayer is, “God, help us take in and walk in what you are showing us. I want to live in your life!!!”

  • Ohhhh. . . . . .

Thank-you Pastor John, Brother John, for being the servant who opened the door today (or held it open after Jesus opened it) for all of us who needed that bath.

Oh my God, my God,…. those songs. . . .

I had just prayed early this morning: “Jesus let me hear your voice today, I have missed your voice. Please speak to me, please speak through me. . . “

And here we are…… Answered prayer. Undeniable. Blessed.

For everyone who was restored today, I am so happy, so pleased. What a a relief. . . . And what an OPPORTUNITY ! To keep the clean slate clean

So thankful for the surprise today. Really snuck up on me. He’s a good God. We’re a good family because of Him…and His mercy.

    🙂 Love,

    Brad

  • I Just Have to Testify

    Hi Pastor John,

I just have to tell you how much I enjoyed our meetings the past two Wednesdays.
Last Wednesday morning I woke up saying the the 23rd Psalms Then the meeting started and you were singing the same words that I was saying that morning, it felt so good to me to think that we were on the same wave length.

Then last night, oh everything that was said went straight to my heart. I loved hearing your Father say the same things that you have taught us over the years.
Then listening to the testimonies, (Sis. Willie, Michelle and Anna) all I could do was thank God for letting me be there to hear those words.
I am just so grateful today for my life, for you, for my family and for all the things that God has done for me. John thank you for teaching us and for looking out for our souls.

  • Gates of Hell

    Pastor John,

The preaching tonight was simply good food for the soul. That is the first time I have heard that the “gates of Hell” were the doors to Christian churches. It is so true and so simple when you’re looking at them the from the outside.

  • Tonight’s meeting

    Hey there,

Tonight’s meeting felt so good to me. It felt so special, so sweet. I’ve never felt it to that extent through JustinTV, but it felt so good, so pure, I didn’t know what to do with myself at some points! It was so good…mmmm, I don’t know what else to say.

Thank you so much, Lord let us do our part for your people.

  • tonight

Amen “preacher Clark” :-), wonderful preaching.

Wow John, I loved your preaching on The Foundation. Wonderful! I really liked what you said about the gates of hell being the doors of christianity. It makes so much sense that the gate ways to hell are here on this earth where the father of false teachers has been given the rule of this world. What I really like is that the gates of hell will not prevail against his truth or against God’s children who love him. Wow!!! How great our God is! We will not enter into those places if we follow his spirit!! It leads us away from the gates of hell. You may have said that before, but I don’t remember it. I heard it this time 🙂

Thank you Jesus. Faster then the speed of light, instant is his love for us. Wow!! Good stuff John. Thank you.

    Stuart
